Hey everybody. Sorry to change the subject, but I need help. I have waited 150 days for my NOA-2 only to receive an RFE. Let me explain what the RFE is for:

My novia's husband was killed in Colombia and we sent in a copy of the Death certificate for proof that she is not married. The RFE states:

DIVORCE/DEATH CERTIFICATE: Submit a legible final certified copy of the death certificate or divorce decree that has been filed in any Civil Court and signed by a judge or a legal authority showing the following prior marriage (s) were legally terminated for **** and ****.

I did send in the Death Certificate, what else are they asking for? Is there something else that I need to add with the death certificate showing the marriage was terminated becasue of her spouses death? Doesn't a death certificate constitute her not being married?

Also, they asked for another document to be translated from Spanish to English. Can I translate it myself and send in the corrected information? I know how to translate the information, so can I do it?

Please, please, please help me! I need to get this RFE info sent soon so I can be with my love!

Thanks!

Ok, maybe this is my problem. We sent in a form and it is titled REGISTRO CIVIL DE DUFUNCION. Do I need the actual CERTIFICADO DE DEFUNCION?

BUndy

Bundy,

I'm thinking the Registro Civil de Defunción is the same as the Certificado. Your fiancée should be able to find out in Colombia if that is the only thing they give out to certify a death.

Yes, you can translate the documents yourself. Just write a statement at the end of each document that you are fluent in both languages. I believe there are samples here on VJ.

Aslo, if you're not comfortable with Spanish you can ask these questions in the Colombian thread located in the Foreign Embassy forum.

OTRA PREGUNTA, SI YA FUI APROBADA COMO PROMETIDA EN LA FORMA I-129, AUN TENGO QUE APLICAR LA I-130?

Lucivi,

Hoy mi timeline llego a Noviembre 29.
