I probably should not be complaining but I just want to vent my frustration.......... a colleague of mine just shared he filed (I-140, I-485, I-765 and AP) in Aug 2022 and he has his EAD and AP already. Another colleague he works with filed in August and has his GC approved already. Seems like both are ROW category, like me.

Meanwhile my I-765 looks like this (see below) and my I-485 transferred from Nebraska --> NBC --> Albuquerque and with each transfer the processing time is significantly increasing.

No question, just a moment to vent to others in a somewhat similar situation.

No updates for me either. One time, I called several times, an information specialist told me to contact again if I didn’t receive my EAD and AP by march. I guess I will call again soon.

If it’s any consolation, you’re not alone. We filed the I-485, I-765 and I-131 (adjusting from a K-1)  at the same time in mid-May 2022. Things seemed to be processing quickly at first: assigned to Natl Benes Center with an IOE receipt number, online account created, biometrics taken in early July 2022, and the EAD issued quickly after that. Since then, not a peep. They’ve been “actively reviewing” the I-485 ever since, and there’s been no movement on the AP since sending us the receipt notice. We called a few months ago and the rep told us our interview had been waived (great!) but that the AOS itself was still being reviewed. In the meantime I’ve seen other couples I’d been following here get their GC’s in 4, 5 months (one couple submitted everything after we did - same state, different city, and they already received the GC). No advice for you, sorry to say, but others are as frustrated as you are.

Update.  We sent in a medical I-693 on 3/1 even though we didn’t need to do it because we were under the K1 visa.  They received it 3/2 and today on 3/7 the i-765 employment authorization was approved.  So it’s something.  No word on the green card or travel. I hope the travel is approved soon also.

Actually we got the combo card approved - so both EAD and Travel.  This is not so evident on the USCIS page but when accessing the documents regarding the approval - it said specifically the employment and advanced parole.  (now just waiting for green card but functionally, we can work and travel now)

I know I didn't have to send the medical but after i got an e-mail requesting it -  i just didnt want to "ignore" something so ... whether its coincidence or not - i am glad that the EAD and AP finally got approved.

Congratulations!! Every time I call USCIS to make an inquiry about the EAD, they say if you don’t get it by x month, call again. Now they said you should have it by August. Yeah, right!

I hear you! I really do hope you'll get it sooner though...

Just got off the phone with "Emma" and I feel like it's really a hit or miss depending on who you talk to. Today's rep just summarized the status of my I-485 as shown in the USCIS, which is:

  • November 1, 2022 Case Was Transferred And A New Office Has Jurisdiction (this was NBC - I received the notice for this)
  • October 31, 2022 Your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, was transferred to another office for processing.
  • July 11, 2022 The fingerprints relating to your Form I-485 Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status, were taken.
  • June 2, 2022 We accepted the fingerprint fee for your Form I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or Adjust Status. Our Nebraska Service Center location is working on your case.

I was really hoping to get an understanding of 2 things: which field office has my case now? Should we expect an interview or not?

I called 6 weeks ago and the USCIS rep shared that my case went from NBC to Albuquerque. And the Rep I spoke to in November shared that they thought my GC would be approved in 4-5 months. Based on what - I don't know. Anyway, given all of this, I decided to try my luck and get an update today, to see if there would be any updates.

The rep did not even share that my case was in Albuquerque and just told me to wait to receive notices. They also told me that in terms of processing times, as my case was tranferred to another office, I should check the processing time for my area (in my case, Seattle). Def a big increase vs where it was originally filed (Seattle 25 months vs Nebraska 18 months).

Oh well........... I guess we'll just need to have a little bit more patience.......

I hope you do get it sooner. Who knows, one day you'll wake up and check your lovely USCIS page and Poof! There it is, the words "We approved your Form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization "

It might be sooner than you think! Hang in there
