The Co notified me the date of my medical expiration on the white paper

What i stated is from past (many embassy involved not just Nigeria)

when the medical is 6 months old at the time Lagos decides to issue a visa,   they will require a new medical

Reason is a visa expires 6 months from date of medical exam

so new medical can be needed if your AP goes months and months

large Age difference is a big obsticle and yes,  if USC is willing to fight immigration to prove the relationship is real,  it can be overcome

for our case it was a long process to overcome a big age difference but we got the visa

if for any reason the embassy denies the petition,  please have the USC either use your profile here and ID herself to us as the USC or create her own profile

she is the one who will need some valuable information from VJ members to overcome a denial

any age difference of over 10 years is always suspect in US embassies for this process  /any that are 11 years or more

if u check the USCIS site that gives u info on approved visas by class (visa type) and post (embassy) u will note most of the spouse visas for Lagos approved are IR1 meaning married over 2 years

that should give u an idea that AP in your embassy is extended many months making most of the spouse cases over the 2 year mark of marriage

february 4 CR1's and 26 IR1's

March 2 CR1's and 36 IR1's

Ok thank you

I know that people here on VJ are helpful, but this is embassy specific and you really need to talk to others from your embassy to get a better understanding of what the next steps are not general to all embassies.

Were you married before? Do you have children?

I've read USCIS is double checking on Nigerian cases where the beneficiary was married.

They might take some time to double check you are in fact divorced from the first wife...

Another member just went through the process and I believe it took about 6 months before they received the visa.

If you have never been married and don't have children you'll just have to wait while they go through regular security checks.

You can write what the paper says if you cannot attach the file.

Never been married nor have any children

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
