Administrative Processing is a normal part of the process.  However, in some cases such as yours, extended AP is required while they investigate.  It could be weeks, months, or more than a year.  Unfortunately, it cannot be expedited or waived.  You just have to have patience.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Was there anything specific that popped up during the interview that the CO emphasized or asked several questions about? Have you ever applied for a US visa in the past? There is no set timeframe for AP it can be couple weeks or a year. Just continue to pray and try not to worry too much. It's a good sign that on the 221g form passport was selected which means they will eventually issue your visa. AP isn't pleasant but it's better than a denial.

I have never heard that.  Approvals or denials always come after administrative processing has been completed.

Were you married before? Do you have children?

I've read USCIS is double checking on Nigerian cases where the beneficiary was married.

They might take some time to double check you are in fact divorced from the first wife...

Another member just went through the process and I believe it took about 6 months before they received the visa.

If you have never been married and don't have children you'll just have to wait while they go through regular security checks.

You can write what the paper says if you cannot attach the file.

They know the norms of their embassy, just because you have not heard of it, does not mean it does not happen at that embassy.

I am speaking from what I have seen with others that have interviewed at Lagos. After AP is completed the passport has to be turned into DHL so that it can be delivered to the US Consulate for the visa to be issued. The CO selected the passport box meaning after AP this individual will drop off his passport at DHL to be issued. If it was a straight denial they wouldn't select that box.

could be the passport was under 6 months from expiring?

or CO checked the wrong box / they can error too

OP

the age difference will be the factor in determining the case along with the extra security checks to insure your documents are valid / yes,  Nigeria documents are under scrutiny these days as others before you have produced fake ones

so  very sorry some have ruined these process for the rest of u

expect one of 3 things

1. u or USC gets notice visa is approved and u need to deliver passport to Lagos embassy/ if more than 6 months from medical exam a new one would be needed

2.  in about 6 months the USC gets a NOIR/NOID to say case is returned and she needs to reply to the notice to validate the relationship as real and marriage bona fida

3. CO requests a 2nd interview

Ok, Hopefully you didn't lie on your previous student visa application. Age gap can also cause more scrutiny but nothing to worry too much about cause alot of age gap cases have been approved at Lagos lately. Just continue to think positively.

It is the norm at all consulates to wait until administrative processing is complete to determine approval or denial.
