Hi,

I did a i485 app for my father, he did his finger prints last month 3/25, got a letter today scheduling him for another bio metrics appointment. I’m confused as he’s already done his bio metrics. Should he attend again?

Yes he should attend. Chances are the first set of fingerprints weren't good enough to be used .. it has happened to me

They cant run full checks without acceptable fingerprints. It will take as long as it takes unfortunately

when people get older fingerprints can be worn down from many things

the work they did

examples:

Certain activities, diseases, chemicals, drugs, and genetic disorders can flatten the friction ridges to such an extent that no print pattern is discernable. Bricklayers can literally "wear down" their finger pad ridges to the point that no pattern is evident.

secretarys that constantly handle a lot of paper daily wear the ridges down

old age, itself,  changes the prints as the elasticity of the skin decreases with age

when he goes back make sure he does not have any type of oil or lotion on them
