n400 delays N-400 Delays; FRCs are back in progress

Greetings, 

I understand one of the factors contributing to N-400 delays has been the COVID-related of closure. Since FRCs are back in progress, why do we still see significant laps in case movement?

Hard to really say.  Since N400's are solely processed at the local offices,  N400 processing times will continue to vary wildly.

Because it's USCIS.

Basically because it depends on the local field office and how

if u look at stats from USCIS end of 2019 (before covid delays in March of 2020,  )  there were 652,431 still pending naturalization petitions

when the US is looking at all the documents and doing the security checks to give out citizenship,  i suspect there will always be a huge backlog 

 

that being said they still approved 624,300   2020 naturalizations      -remember fiscal year for USCIS is October to end of September

Didn't the national records center etc only open fully in 2022, and/or end of 2021? If so, they will have a MASSIVE backlog. The rest of USCIS (service centers, field offices etc) have been fully operated for a long time now, mostly since mid-2020, unlike the records centers.

I suspect that current adjudication trends will add a significant amount of time to an already exhausted system. Unless Congress reauthorizes utility of a temporary A-file for naturalization, this backlog is going to extend into 2024.

Only took 7 months for our N-400. I didnt think that was bad at all. I see a lot of people getting it in less time.
