I think I am being used for a visa

My fiancé was approved for a K1 Visa, he said the interview process was so easy. The consular did not ask very many questions and he has been researching and preparing for over a year. I’m not sure, but I have a feeling I’m being used for a green card. He has tried to marry two others before me. Any ideas or suggestions on what I should do?

Welcome to the forum.

You'll have to be more specific about why you feel this way.

If you have objective evidence to support your feeling, tell us here.

If your best friend were to discuss that evidence with you, tell us what he or she would advise.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

In addition, we'll need details about your relationship history (meeting, duration, time spent together, warning signs, et al.) if we're to try to help you make sense of things.

you are free to withdraw at any time

1. by contacting embassy and they will cancel the visa

2. not getting married to him if he is able to come

3. not filing AOS for him to stay legally/ he can not adust thru another woman unless u married and divorce him

then he's free to stay and AOS with a divorce waiver

make sure of your feelings because if u cancel ,  u can not undo the cancellation

make sure your head is doing the thinking

if u have evidence he is talking to other women,  then he probably has one lined up here in case things don't work out with u

trust your instincts

if you are correct,,  u can save yourself a lot of future heartaches, time  and money

The K1 visa allows him entry to the US. But, his green card journey is far from over.

If you do not marry him and you do not file for adjustment the I-485 and I-864 (and he has to apply for work authorization and travel permission) he won't have legal status in the US.

If you're worried about being used I would try to stop or delay his entry to the US.

The other members have given you good advice on how to proceed.

If you'd like to talk about the issues you're worried about answer the questions @TBoneTX mentioned regarding you courtship and maybe you'll see a) he is using you or b.) he is someone who enjoys being super prepared for moving to a whole new country and is interested in the minutia of the process.

ETA: If you read previous consulate reviews. You'll see the interview process is really easy. Especially if the couple is real.

Common questions are : when did you meet? how did you meet? what does your partner do? when was the last time you saw them?

This is one of the rare benefits of a K1 visa versus a CR1 spouse visa.  It gives you time to determine if the relationship is real or not.   Normally this would have been done before filing the petition, but it does give you a second chance to think things over.

As others have posted, if you feel the relationship is not genuine, then do not marry.  The beneficiary has to marry you to adjust status normally.  Inform USCIS and/or the embassy as appropriate.

We’ve been together for over two years. I have traveled to Lagos five times with February this year being the most recent. His flight is confirmed for this month. However, I found my answer. Thank you so much

Just be prepared for a charm offensive when he thinks you are going to change your mind (if you do).  If all he is after is a green card and he is almost to the finish line, he will say whatever he has to say.

You are correct!
Thanks
