Hello!

 

This is my second post to visa journey!

As I prepare everything we need with my fiance for the next steps after USCIS approval, I got the letter in the mail from USCIS stating we were approved (NOA2). However, I noticed that instead of being forwarded to the NVC it says that the case was just sent to the consulate. Is this normal? I googled sample pictures of this letter to see and it usually says it was sent to NVC and the address of them. Sorry if this is a weird question, I just am an anxious person and like to know everything is going correctly.

In general, NVC does not really do anything with K1 visas other than the petition is routed to the specific consulate.  A K1 is not like a spousal visa where documents are required to be uploaded at the NVC stage.

NVC assigns case numbers for K1 applications and forwards them directly to the Consulates where the rest of the processing takes place.

But NVC does assign a case number to the K1 

11/17/2016: Got engaged
11/28/2016: I-130 sent to Chicago IL lock box
01/12/2016: NOA1
