No.

I think what happens is once the embassy receives the application, they review it and then they will contact us for further steps including scheduling the interview.

I think you can use your NVC case number to submit the DS-160 and pay the fee. After that you will be scheduled for an interview. I am curious about the waiting time at Ankara since my fiance will be going there too.

Oh that’s interesting. I didn’t know you can complete the DS-160 before the embassy contacts us. To pay the fee, however, don’t you need an invoice ID?

i’ve heard the tourist visas at Ankara are taking a very long time to schedule interviews. I hope the same is not for us 😬

Hi Everyone, how are people finding out the CEAC case number for the firms?

My form was approved august 3rd at the USCIS but I have heard nothing about the next steps.
I’ve been told the next contact I will get is an email or letter once the NVC processes my cases and sends it to the embassy in Mumbai in 45-60 days from approval. Is this correct?

Hi All, we received our NOA2 on May 10. It's been more than 4 months, but our case is still at USCIS for some reason. We submitted multiple service requests at USCIS to forward our case to NVC, but our case is still with them. This is what we've tried so far:

  • Contacted our congressman and asked help with NVC inquiry on July 12. We thought that our case was at NVC back then. We received a response that NVC hadn't received our case.
  • Called USCIS and submitted a service request to send our case to NVC on July 27. Received an email after about a week saying that our case was sent to NVC on July 22.
  • Called USCIS multiple times. Emailed NVC multiple times at nvcresearch@state.gov email address. Got responses that there was still no progress.
  • Contacted the President Biden's office for help. We haven't received a response from them yet.
  • Contacted the CIS Ombudsman's office for help. Haven't received a response from them either.
  • Submitted another service request at USCIS on Sep 2 to check if our case was indeed forwarded to NVC. We received response that our case WAS NOT forwarded to NVC. That's how we learned that USCIS still had our case. They were previously saying that they forwarded our case to NVC, but that turned out to be false.
  • Submitted an expedite request at USCIS on Sep 9. Our request was denied on Sep 13.

We tried everything. Now, we are thinking of filing a writ of mandamus lawsuit against USCIS to force them forward our case to NVC with the help of federal court. Has anyone experienced anything like this? Has anyone filed a lawsuit against USCIS or any other immigration office?

Our Noa2 was May 25th and still haven’t heard anything from NVC. We contacted USCIS and they said our case was not there anymore and they had sent it to NVC sometime in July. We sent several Inquiries to NVC and the most recent response was sent to us on August and they didn’t even confirm that our case was at NVC. They are not responding to our emails and there’s nothing we can think of doing except for waiting.

this is ridiculous, this step was supposed to take 2-4 weeks and it’s been 4 months already.

Have you tried sending email to nvcresearch@state.gov? They usually reply in a few days. USCIS was initially telling us that they forwarded our case to NVC too, but it turned out later that they didn't, so it's worth submitting a service request at USCIS service center where your case was approved for someone to go check if the case was indeed sent to NVC. That's what we did when we learned that they actually didn't send our case to NVC.

Checked CEAC today and our case shows “Ready”! So excited as it has been almost 1.5 years since filing the K1 application.

It says on CEAC that I (or my fiancé?) will be notified by the embassy for next steps and scheduling the interview. One thing though, I (the petitioner) never received any physical mail stating my NVC case number - I only received it after inquiring about it via email.

I did get notified via email once NVC sent it out to the embassy and the case was “In Transit”. Not sure what to do next as it is “Ready”, still playing the waiting game until they contact me 😅

Hello. Our NOA2 was May 10, but USCIS still hasn't sent our case to NVC. It's been 4.5 months. Is there anyone who was in similar situation? If so, how did you resolve that issue? Thank you.

I’ve heard they have to send the papers within 3 months so there may be an issue with the papers. Have you called and talked to an agent?

Thanks for this. We sent them and email and they responded yesterday saying that they do not have our case in NVC yet. Same situation as you. They mentioned in the email that we should send them a photo of our approval letter. What did you do about your case once you found out it was still not in NVC? Any updates in your situation?

I contacted USCIS and placed a service request to send our case to NVC. They initially replied to the service request saying that they sent the case to NVC and asked to wait 30 business days. That turned out to be false. We waited 30 business days, then placed another service request. This time they replied that the case was NOT sent due to shipping delays and didn't specify when it will be sent. I recommend you placing a service request to send your case to NVC and at the same time request to talk to a tier 2 agent.

Placing service requests didn't resolve our issue, but it may work for you. I'm waiting for a tier 2 callback. When you request to speak to a tier 2 agent, they put you in queue for a callback from tier 2 support that has more information and options related to what they can do on your case. The tier 2 callback may take 30 days, so if you are going to request one, you should do it now to save time.
