Hi,

I got my IR1 visa. I already have an SSN with "Valid for work only with DHS authorization", so I checked no in the DS-260 form. I understand from some posts that I need to remove these conditions upon arrival.

  1. What is the procedure to remove these conditions? Do I apply for EAD? Or approach local SSA office who might have some relevant forms?
  2. How long does it typically take between entering US and starting work? I already have a couple of job opportunities lined up but they might wanna know if it's worth the wait.

Thanks in advance for all the help!

You do not need an EAD.  The holder of a valid immigrant visa is authorized for work immediately upon entering the US.  I see no rush in removing the statement on the SS card, but you can get the statement removed by showing your evidence of legal resident status to a local SS office.   With a stamped immigrant visa after arrival and a SS card, you could start work immediately.
