K1 i-134 beneficiary income

Hi folks,

Trying to fill out the i-134 and have some questions. My fiance has a full time job in his country and some savings. Do we need to fill that part in, and what kind of documents do we need to provide to prove it? Or should we just leave it blank since he's going to quit his job when he moves to the US? Do the documents have to be translated?

Thanks!

His foreign income will not be used in evaluating the public charge risk, so no need to include.

Since the new I-134 is so new (Edition Date: 4/25/2022), not much has been mentioned, and I've tried to make others aware it is different from the from the old I134.

The old I-134 (Expires: 2/28/21) Question 38, and the new I-134 (Edition Date: 4/25/2022) Question 17 may be remnants from some old forms?

With that said, each consulate/embassy may interpret how you answer Question 17 (or Item 17) differently, so I personally will NOT ignore it. The purpose of the I134 (new and old) is for the petitioner to show financial support to the beneficiary AND to show that both the petitioner and beneficiary will NOT depend on the government for financial assistance in the future.

Therefore, answering Questions 17 (I believe) gives the beneficiary the best chances for approval like that you can show income that is above the HHS poverty guidelines, etc. and you are willing to list specific income contributions to your beneficiary (and dependents).

If you do not earn enough, then find a joint sponsor, etc.

Technically, you could ignore Question 17, but then again, the embassy/consulate could also technically deny the K1 applicant. So good luck!

I put more of my opinion about how I would fill out the new I-134 (Edition Date: 4/25/2022) if I was the beneficiary in this thread:

I'm well above the poverty line plus have assets so there's no need for him to support himself at all in the US, though he'll be looking for work soon as he can.

I'm not really clear on what you're saying here. If I have the income to cover the requirements, do we need to fill it out or no? I'm filling out the form on his behalf.

thanks!

Yes (not speaking for others), I would fill out the new I-134 form (Edition Date: 4/25/2022) as the petitioner for the beneficiary, especially if the income is well above the poverty line plus assets. So with the higher income, the numbers will just be bigger than the example I provided here:

Second, you can help others by filling out your Timeline because your data helps improve Visajourney's stats pages, and also helps others to understand what process or context you are going thru to better communicate with you. Good luck!
