Our beneficiaries got here tonight. Picked them up at O'Hare , just got them settled in for the night. Their flight landed at 8pm but they didn't get out of CBP clearance until nearly 3 hours later. Apparently there were a lot of other U4U folks on the same flight from Warsaw, and they were processing all of them in a group. Asked a bunch of questions, took photos, not quite sure what else took 3 hours. Anyway, the ordeal is over and they're now officially and legally in the US. Tomorrow we can start the million +1 things needed to integrate them successfully.

Good day,

Can you please share the experience about their time in the airport.  Were there anybody to help people with no or little English?

Thank you

How did you talk to an actual person.

I called USCIS long time ago. It took like 20 minutes on hold but option to talk to human is in there. Try something related to customer service. Possibly under option 6

This should be submitted from the US.

I’d double check on that. If you submit from US on behalf of your beneficiaries - it’s not them completing attestations… I don’t recall where exactly but it was stated in some instructions that beneficiaries had to be the ones completing and submitting the forms.

I had my beneficiaries on a Zoom call and assisted them with the exercise.
Not sure if the system is smart enough to capture IP address of where it was submitted from though.

Greetings

Does anyone know cases when non-Ukrainian immediate relatives (e.g. spouses) of Ukrainian beneficiaries of U4U program got travel authorization from CBP? We've been waiting for a spouse to get the response while his entire family has already got approval 3 weeks ago.

I know of one who successfully arrived but their citizenship was not Russia (this could theoretically be a factor for delay)

I completed on behalf of the beneficiaries (beneficiaries were on WhatsApp). I was traveling and submitted one from outside the US and the rest from inside the US. They were approved same day & Travel Authorizations were issued.

I don't think the system "cares"/captures IP. Even if IP is captured somewhere, there doesn't seem to be an impact.

Thank you

I have just arrived with 3 Ukrainians to Newark airport. The process was pretty painless thankfully. We came up to border control and were asked about who the Ukrainians are, how where they came from. We kept it simple, no need to tell them more than what they ask for. They did not seem to have any Ukrainian or polish speakers on hand, they asked other arriving passengers for help translating.  Thankfully i spoke English and Ukrainian and we were able to answer any questions. They took photos and fingerprints of the Ukrainian arrivals and we were led to a secondary border patrol office. They took their passports and travel authorization and we waited a bit. After 10 minutes they the border patrol agent came back with the passports stamped with authorization to stay in the US until 2024. We did not need to answer any questions at this phase. And that was it, we left to pick up our baggage and entered the US. Hope this gives a little info to others going through this process!!

I highly doubt if it checks the geolocation of the IP.

Anyway the sponsor completes and submits the I-134. The Beneficiaries complete the attestations.

Non-Ukrainian spouse I was taking about isn't Rissian. But anyway thanks for letting me know that someone with the same situation has successfully got through.

what is everybody doing about health insurance when their family arrives? My mother in law wasn't eligible to join mine that I get from work as she isn't my direct family, which is annoying as it covers absolutely everything.

They are eligible for marketplace insurance. My family has full coverage, no deductible or co-pays and no premium monthly costs.

can this be done with the ukraine I'd card?

A beneficiary needs a passport -- if you know a Ukrainian who only has a Ukrainian ID, have them apply for a passport. If they are outside Ukraine, they should contact the nearest Ukrainian embassy.

The will get you to your state marketplace for health insurance. For Maine there is a "Get started" guided process. For most beneficiaries they will probably qualify for low or no premium insurance since they will have no income and little assets.
