Anyone have a recent experience in obtaining a non-immigrant visa appiontment in Lagos. I just had a baby and want to invite my Mother-inlaw. There is no avalibilty in the website for interview. I was wondering if anyone knows of an easier way to obtain an appiontment. Any idea will be appreciated

If the website doesn't show availability for an appointment, then my only suggestion is to have your mother-in-law (or someone else you know) go to the embassy and inquire. Not to discourage you, because I hope they will let your MIL come, but I heard that they deny 95% of non-immigrant visas. I don't know whether or not that is true, but don't be too disappointed if they don't approve her visa application.

I am currently in grad school, I was pregnant and I tried to get a visa for my grandma, (Sept 06), she was denied, of curse. I waited for 6 months and figured i would try again. So I have been checking the website since March this year and all I see is "Dates fully booked" and "date not available". I still check approx once per week.

I read somewhere that if you say the relative is coming to babysit, you are highly unlikely to be approved. How true this is, I do not know.

The rate of denials is closer to 99%, I think.

I'll post as soon as I am able to fix a visa appt. Please do the same and good luck. :)

I appreciate all the input. The website slots fill so fast (lagos). Within hours, a week slot was gone, I could not believe it. Anyone gotten an appiontment by walking to the embassy?. I heard Abuja is better.
