Hi everyone! 

 

I'm a little confused and would like some help if anyone is familiar with this situation.

 

NVC reviewed my case and just sent an email saying it's been forwarded to the embassy and I noticed at the bottom my category changed from F2A to IR2

 

I qualified for CSPA which froze my age (im well over 21 now), but my mom got naturalized last year and Im reading conflicting things on being moved from F2A into ir2..

Does it still keep my age frozen at 21 or does it reset it..and so does that mean ir2 is the wrong category?

An immediate relative of a US citizen cannot be an F2A category.  A visa number is immediately available for IR categories.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Your CSPA age is your age at the time of your mom's US oath ceremony.  How old were you then?  If you were already over 21 by then, your visa category would be F1.  You may have the option of converting your case to F2B, instead of F1.
