What Identification number? Do you mean USCIS /A number)

What all the information he will need? Maybe see for I-90.

Ask your friend to complete form I-90 and if gets stuck on a specific question question or needs help with a specific issue he can ask. Maybe they can set up their own account and ask here.

He wants to find his A# so the can try a few things:

1. Go in person to Social Security and ask super sweetly if they could give him the #A ..even try to ge5 a copy of the green card. ( they can , have but you usually have to find an empathetic agent)

2. Try w his bank to  if they listed his green card at account opening

3. Any old jobs that may have retained a copy

4. File a FOIA ( may take a while but with enough good details, he can get a copy of entire immigration file

He didn't even take a picture? That's very odd, very odd

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

He came in to the us while he was a teen & im going to  guess that like me we never gave it too much thoughts  or even knew to take a picture of the green card. Luckily i never lost or misplace mines but if i did i would have been on the same boat.

FOIA is online , free and he can give as many details as can , for the unknown bits , he can mark Unknown.

I do hope once he finds the A# , he goes for the gold and files his N-400 .

He doesn't have the passport with the immigrant visa in it?
