Procedure after getting married.

Hello everyone.

Me and my US citizen Fiancé just got married in Tunisia during march 2022. We are going to start our CR1/IR1 visa process but we don't know exactly where to start from?

We have few questions that we would love to get answered by this wonderful community:

1/ Our marriage contract is in Arabic, I am guessing we need to translate it to English, right?

2/ How do we get our marriage certificate, do we need to translate it to English?

3/ Do we need to get the marriage certificate certified by the American Embassy?

4/ How do we make our marriage certificate recognized in the USA?

We would really appreciate any answers for our questions.

Yes

Not sure @JeanneAdil can help.

I don't think so.

A marriage is a marriage. US does not care. So you don't have to do anything

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

the above says to go to local civil registry office with photo ID to prove u are legal to have the certificate

when u get the certificate,  get it translated by a CERTIFIED translator /this is not a "do it yourself translation document"

Did the Imam start a family book for u?  (not important to immigration but it is nice to have in Tunisia

u do not register this with the american embassy

u do not have to register the marriage in the US at all/  legal in Tunisia is legal in the US

If possible get more than one as it is needed for immigration here for u to send to USICS and there for him to take an original to the interview

both the Arabic and the English translation are needed for the petition and the interview

allah yekbel

best to u both

above posts tells u how to do the spousal visa

the directions are also under the word guides (above blue bar)

and drop down menu to visas (CR1/IR1 spousal visa)

As long as your marriage certificate was issued by the appropriate governmental authorities in Tunisia, it will be accepted by USCIS and NVC.

Review the list of Tunisia specific documents here:

https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Tunisia.html

The NVC website has all the information you need

11/17/2016: Got engaged
11/28/2016: I-130 sent to Chicago IL lock box
01/12/2016: NOA1

The petition can be done online

collect the needed documents for the CR1 so u are ready to scan them with the petition (called this instead of application)

It's clear to me the OP has not yet started the process of studying the I-130 instructions.  That is the place to start, then study the form itself.  The instructions tell you what is needed.

Note that with rare exceptions ANYBODY can certify a translation.  It is the translation that gets certified, not the translator.  Note that both the native language document AND the translation are submitted.
