Hypothetical question about N400

Ok, hypothetical question time and I need some expert input from people who have been through the N400 process.

My friend entered on a K1, married and got their conditional GC, they filed for ROC, 7 months ago and is still waiting, but is eligible for N400 later this year.

If they wanted to proceed with the N400 application and then relocate for a while in Europe would that be ok? They are not yet sure if they might stay longer term in a Europe but want to secure a US passport as they have a young son and want the security of a passport.

1) If they filed and then left the country, but came back for the biometrics and interview, would that be acceptable? They would still have a US address for correspondence and notifications.

2) What is the process of N400?

File - NAO - Biometrics - Interview- Oath?

3) When is the Civics test bit? And can you do test, interview and Oath in one day?

4) What paperwork is required at interview?
Is it normal for i94’s to be checked? Will they care that they have been out of the country for a bit? (Less than 6 months)

Any input or insight would be really useful.

Thanks

Maybe.  How for how long?

How much physical presence in days does the LPR in the USA since becoming an LPR?

Answers to numbered questions:

1. maybe

2. I don’t know what NAO is.  The rest is correct

3. during interview.

4. the paperwork can case specific and is named in the interview letter.  Generally, evidence of residence in the USA, the green card (if there is one) and most recent passport (if there is one) are required. In this case since there will be travel abroad after the n-400 is filed, the dates and destinations of that travel should be included.
