A shortcut to expedite at NVC for interview

If you want to expedite your interview date for your I 130, here is a tip after my research. You chose the service center with the lesser load. If you live in London you can request your interview in Amsterdam or any other city where you go easily. All you have to do is to prove why you want the different city.

It doesn't work like that...

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

You have first hand experience with this “trick”?

I dont have personal experience but I dont see why it will not work for some people. It has to be done before the NVC schedule the interview. Applicant needs to prove why they want different city. They must secure some kind of legal status there.

Correct....which is much different from what you originally posted.

BTW, they are consulates....not service centers.

The interview is a visa interview.

This "trick" is used a lot since normally, an applicant can choose between their home country or the country in which he/she currently resides.

Yeah. This is normal procedure and not a shortcut.

Also adding to what others say expedite is pretty tight now. You have to have a pretty darn good emergency, Humanitarian reason. Not a "I want a new location". A request to expedite isn't a I need to change location though. That is hardly a reason.

Also if not a resident there it's futile you know. Ex

Nonsense.  Your research is faulty.  I do know of a member here who had his interview in Mumbai to avoid the long backlog in Montreal, but they were able to do that because of their Indian Citizenship.  Visa interviews are held only in country of citizenship or legal residence.  You must "prove" one or the other, not just "why".  In fact, a reason need not be stated, in such a case.

This is neither a "trick" or "news".

In one of my post I did mention the person needs to have legal status in that country. There are many ways a legal status can be achieved for example study and work. South American, EU, some Central Asian countries do offer an easy process to issue work permits within those regions. This forum can be used for bashing and aristocratic reasons sometimes which is so sad. Working holiday visa and programs are also available for many people. It is only nonsense when you dont know, once you know it makes sense.

Chileans can live and work legally in Peru under the Mercosur (and Associated Members) immigration agreement with no requirement other than being a citizen at birth or a naturalized citizen for over 5 years

This forum is also used to post inaccurate information....which your first post was.

I can see bunch of old users forming a group and come to each others rescue and bash new members. I was very clear in my post that it was at the NVC stage. When you fill paperwork at NVC, you can request your paper work to be sent to different location if you have legal status in other country. It was not inaccurate information. lol its so funny how these people jump for other. Tu Salta I Salta

You said "All you have to do is to prove why you want the different city.".  That is 100% false..... Believe me. @pushbrk doesn't need to be rescued....LOL.

Yes you have to tell them since you have legal residence in other country so I want interview there. Common sense seems not common lol
