Visa & Greencard?

I know it looks like a lot, but the questions are pretty simply guys. Sorry for the trouble.

I've done a petition for my parents to bring them to USA.
i130 & i867 which I THOUGHT would be an instant greencard if/once approved.

1)
But it seems they are getting a visa
So, this is not a greencard interview, it's a VISA interview am I understanding this correctly?

2)
So the interview they got at the embassy, is that a good sign? Does this mean it's as good as approved (IF the paperwork are all done and correct) ?

3)
Also, since it's not a marriage based petition (Where they have to prove marriage is real), and since they have ALL papers and evidence that I'm their son etc, will they still grill them with question ? or it's just a formality and gather all documents? I'm just wondering if they are going to be bunch of questions

4)
So if it IS a visa application, is it wise for them to say that they are moving to US? Or should they say that they're only visiting and IF move only they get their greencard?
I'm just not understanding I didn't apply for a visa for them to visit, I went through immigration to do a petition for them to actually move :S

5)
So when they get to US using their visa, can they apply for greencard right away?
If so, what form will I be filling?

Above link states:
"Original or certified copies of birth certificates for all children of the principal applicant (even if he or she is not accompanying)."

Of course they need MY birthceritificate.

Though it doesn't make sense for them to bring birth certificate for ALL my siblings who are not in the petition even, it does state ALL children, right?

Thank you !!!!!!! 😃

The I-130 is for family petitions, siblings, spouse, child, parent. It is a jack of all trades form for family petitions. Some questions on the form don't sound right if it does not apply to the family member you are applying for.

The will get a visa after the interview at the embassy is approved.

The visa is "activated" when they enter the country and the greencard is processed and mailed to the address provided.

If you filled the I-130 form for your parents, the assumed intention is that they are migrating to the US

So, this is not a greencard interview, it's a VISA interview am I understanding this correctly? - It's an immigrat visa interview that will grant you greencard status upon being admitted in the US

2)
So the interview they got at the embassy, is that a good sign? Does this mean it's as good as approved (IF the paperwork are all done and correct) ? - Yes and Yes. As long as they don't lie, provide fake papers, or misrepresent themselves at the interview. The CO can also request DNA to proof biological child-parent relationship if he's not convinced.

3)
Also, since it's not a marriage based petition (Where they have to prove marriage is real), and since they have ALL papers and evidence that I'm their son etc, will they still grill them with question ? or it's just a formality and gather all documents? I'm just wondering if they are going to be bunch of questions - Oh, some child-parent relationships are also fraudulent. You'll be surprised what people will do just gain or assist someone gain an immigration visa. The CO may request DNA to proof child-parent relationship if he's not convinced there's a biological relationship.

4)

I'm just not understanding I didn't apply for a visa for them to visit, I went through immigration to do a petition for them to actually move :S - The visa interview is for an immigrant visa. Meaning their intent is to migrate and live permanently in the US. If they go and say it's just to visit, they could be denied because CO could think they just want to use an immigrat visa as a tourist visa.

5)
So when they get to US using their visa, can they apply for greencard right away?
If so, what form will I be filling? - If they enter the US with their visas and are admitted they'll automatically be permanent residents. No additional form to fill. They'll however have to pay an immigrant fee to have their physical greencard produced and mailed to them.

Since you seem really unclear about the process, I have a question for you, just to make sure of something.  You referred several times to "a" petion that you filed.  That wording is usually singular -- meaning one petition.  You actually filed two petitions, right?  One for each parent?

Even though you are already in the middle of the process, you would benefit from reading the guide here to get a better understtanding of the whole process and make sure you don't miss doing anything important:

Hi guys, sorry just a few quick YES/NO questions.

I' as a US citizen have done a petition for my parents. They have the immigrant visa interview this month in Sweden.

Question 1:  Do I need to do a i-485 for them once they get here so their visa can get converted to a greencard?

Question 2:  If I do a petition for my brother who is above 21 and married, do I at some point need to file an i-485 form for him? (He lives in Sweden)

Thank you! 😃

As mentioned by other posters, the moment your parents enter the US with their immigrant visas, they will immediately become US permanent residents.  The CBP entry stamp they will get at the airport will "convert" their visas into temporary green cards for 1 year after their US entry.  No need to file I-485.  But they do need to pay the $220 immigrant fee for USCIS to print and deliver their plastic green cards.  Their IR5 visa + CBP stamp will be equivalent to the plastic green card for all legal purposes in the US.  Same process when your brother gets his own immigrant visa in 15 years or so.
