Here was topic what went in a bit different way so I continue it in new.

http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...78208&st=15

I can see very clearly, why she was so frightened. You here in America already are so used to guns, shootings, and things related with this, that this morality is somehow weird for me, used everyday, and people dont understand my totally against feeling. You see, probably, when I come here - this was first time in my lifetime when I saw gun!!! Even we had two world wars over there, war is war, and peace time is peace time. No one has gun there. Things what happen here everyday, happen over there probably once in five years. Yes I know that guns don't kill people, but people kill people, but anyhow. Is this really worth this trust, checking, who is sane enough to kill, so that everybody after 18 and with GC is sane enough and Is trust and belief on human being common sense is so big. Even in Virginia Tech, would he ever make this? "show"about shooting, if he would have just knife or something, he would be stooped, there wouldn't be so many victims and its not worth this show. Ok they say, in constitution (What is again weird in my eyes, and its way 2 hundred old) you can have gun for protection, why they allow to sell all these crazy automatic war weapons? Well, but this is what makes America so different.

Weird weird things here for me. You have here to understand that people come from different societies. I felt very abused about this all driving thing. But them people start to scolding me and -I found out that driving is privilege, how me to know this. While guns are rights. Well, vice versa to what I was used to - guns are extreme privelegy, driving and getting moved from point A to point B is your rights.

I'd rather have a right and not need it than a privilege and do.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

agreed. and for the op, driving isn't considered a right as you can always walk.

ps - automatic weapons require a special permit to own ;)

Most anti-gunners don't know the first thing about guns and judge them based purely on appearance.

And you trust the same ones around who also have right, but they do use them. So then why to have this right, if you are not going to use, but be worried that someone might use? And who said, about privilege and do? Noone over there don't do nothing, its shocking for me what is happening here, I am not even able to watch news here, its too crazy for peace time having war time thinking.

You can have a gun over there, but its expensive, and you need to give medical exam and they check your medical records. If you had any mental problem in past, sure thing you wont get gun. But here its again rights about personal data and record protection and so on.

I thought, that all my rights end there, where I danger other human being rights.

But probably I just waist my time. Its so different thinking way.

No, I don't judge by Hollywood products about things. My knowledge comes from history and past what happened in Europe, not from movies, where probably standard American knowledge comes about morality.

Freedom isn't free. There are always people that will turn a freedom into a crime. Those people will be dealt with by our system of laws. You can't murder someone with a gun and say "I'm protected by the second amendment". It's up to a jury.

we have the right to vote, but whether one exercises that right is up to them. same thing applies to having a gun and both can be taken away if one commits a felony.

as for checking on the mental history of a potential owner, it sounds like you're under the illusion that such does not occur in the states. we have background checks here too. in general, any incident of domestic violence rules out a potential buyer as does a felony conviction (note some states may restore the right to gun ownership/voting after a felony conviction though).

voting rights can't do harm? I think there are a lot of anti-bush people who will go against you on that.

People vote in the 'wrong' people. Be it misinformed, or threatened.

The Beginning

September 29th, 1999 - 'hooked' up with Dave after chatting with him for about a year online.

October 23rd, 2004 - September 29th, 5 years to the day, he proposed to me =D

July 23rd, 2005 - Dave comes over for the wedding on July 27th at the beach :)

Sometime in December, he sends off I-130 to Texas and promptly leaves me in the dark like a mushroom x.X...

The Saga Continues *dumdeduuummm*

August - phone NVC. intriguing :\ Phoned again, ah hah! the truth... no record of us >< losers... Go and visit Dave for 3 months...

End of January, we sent the petition back in again. 2 weeks later, we actually get a number in our hot little hands.

April 5th - NOA2 approved!

April sometime, received and sent back Choice of Agent

May 18th - Received IV Bill

May 28th - Sent IV Bill MO back

June 11th - DS-230 generated

July 12th - Received and sent back DS-230 packet

July 19th - NVC Sent Husband checklist of AoS. They forgot to fill in N/A fills with.... N/A x.X

July 23rd - DS-230 entered

July 26th - NVC received checklist regarding financial suppliment (ie, got a talking to on the phone :P)

August 1st - sent financial papers back

August 3rd - (Automatic msg) Financial records lacking! ARGH!~

August 7th - Received actual fixed paperwork - 'processing'

August 17th - NVC COMPLETED CASE!~

September 10th - Received packet 3

September 17th - Medical in Brisbane

November 14th - Interview VISA GRANTED

December 8th - Landed in USA

December 24th - GreenCard Arrives

People's voting rights CAN harm you. If the wrong man with the wrong intentions is voted into office any number of terrible things can happen. Like all other rights, the right to bear arms and the right to vote come with responsibility. Just because there are a small handful of crazy people out there who take advantage of these rights doesn't mean that the majority should have to give up those rights. It's unfair to try to force them to. If someone is crazy enough to kill others, not having a gun isn't going to stop him/her. People have tried to limit/remove this right before and it didn't work. I really doubt they will ever be able to take our right to bear arms away, at least not without a HUGE fight from the people. I live waaay out in country and I remember when Gore (I think) was talking about taking away guns, there were people here going crazy and talking about burying them in the backyard.

Then by your statement, there isn't just few crazy people. Seems crazy enough to vote bush for second term.

What I mean is voting doesn't harm me in direct way.

But I just don't know what is unfair about not having rights to have gun. Its sounds like from some middle age. If you don't have intentions to use this, then why do you have to have it?

And no, if someone is crazy enough to kill, it wont stop. But some here kill for show and popularity, and if you kill not with gun, your possibility to kill numerous people are small. Or get in blind anger after fisttfight - you are stronger and kicked my ###, but you see - I have a gun. Lets see who wins now.

But some here kill for show and popularity, and if you kill not with gun, your possibility to kill numerous people are small. Or get in blind anger after fisttfight - you are stronger and kicked my ###, but you see - I have a gun. Lets see who wins now..

If someone doesn't have guns at their disposal they will kill alot less people? What world are you living in? We're in a time of suicide bombs and homemade explosives, I think guns are the least of our problems.

It is our RIGHT to have guns and now that you're in this country you should be honored to have that right. Sure, there are A FEW people who will take advantage of that right, but considering the millions of Americans who walk safely down the sidewalk everyday, I think that risk is very low.
