Hi all

I’ve had a look through the instructions and checked online for an answer to this, do the pictures need to be submitted in ‘glossy’ format like the old fashioned developed photographs? I’ve printed them in colour on a regular printer onto plain white paper and written a description next to each one. I’ve included pictures from my camera roll album as as well as printed screen shots from both of our social media feeds showing pictures of us together with locations tagged and dates showing.

Also my partner has included his birth certificate as proof of US citizenship but I suspect they’ll need the long form and I think his is only the short form. Would it be better to include a copy of his passport instead? And if we do that do we need to copy each page?

I’m sure these questions have been asked before so thanks in advance for your patience!

My partner is American and I’m from the U.K.

I’m in the US at the moment so we’re hoping to get sorted and filed before I have to return to the U.K.

Thanks

Your pictures sound completely fine; they don't need to be on glossy paper, and in fact your way seems to be better to 'catalogue' your relationship. Several pictures on a page, going chronologically with date/place/people inside, seem sufficient. Pictures with family members are also a huge plus if you have it, specifically as you're actually in the US with him now.

And to the second part - yes, long firm birth certificate is required. That's a pretty common area for an RFE so if you're unsure if it's long/short, better to send both a copy of the full passport (yes, each page) and the birth certificate. It's technically one-or-the-other, but I don't think there's a penalty for doing both.

If you're unsure if the birth certificate is long or short, btw, I'm pretty sure they accept the same birth certificate he would've applied for his passport with. Take care and good luck!
