In Part 2 of the I-485, I don't know which box to select. I am assisting my wife with her paperwork to become a US citizen. We were married on June 2, 2007. She is here on a B2 Tourist Visa. I am an American, born and raised.

Her Visa expires in November and when I spoke to immigration, they said we could get married with her on a Tourist Visa or on a Fiancé Visa. We would have had to wait longer to get married on a Fiancé Visa, se we went ahead and got married with her being on a Tourist Visa.

Anyone with expertise on this issue, please advise.

Thanks and all the best!

SO, have you started the K1 Fiance Visa (I-129F) and it is in process, and you married?

It sounds as though she was already in the country and they decided to get married on the tourist visa and adjust status. I think this post should be in the AOS part of the forums.

No. The Fiance Visa was one option. The Tourist Visa was a second option. They chose the Tourist Visa route and got married. But now that they're married, they are filing (?) or need to file an AOS.

The answer you should select is "A".

Yes, exactly Rose. She was in the country on her B2 Tourist Visa and we got married. Thanks for that heads up and guiding my post to the appropiate section. We belong in the "AOS" section... seeking Adjustment of Status. I was not familiar with the term, "AOS" until today. Thanks and now you know how green I am to this process. It looks like I have a long road ahead!

No Fiance Visa for us... we were married on June 2. My wife was and is today on her Tourist Visa. We are trying to get Adjustment of Status for her.

Obrigado!
