Hi All,

I have a question you may be able to answer for me.

My partner and I have been in a relation for over eight years, I live in Ireland and she lives in the US.  Next month we intend to start the K1 Visa process.

We are currently putting together the proof of relationship package and I have a question with regards to this...

My partner is not great with computers and technology and would prefer me to compile the social media aspects or our proof, such as Facebook, Messages, Texts, plane tickets.

My question with this is, if I'm the one that puts together this information from screenshots from my accounts and emails then is that okay as they will see the information from my side, the beneficiary, and not my partner... Will this matter?

Thanking you in Advance.

You are showing that the two of you are maintaining a relationship, so it won’t matter if it comes from your side or your partner’s side.

Good Luck!

As an aside, have you considered the spousal visa route?

I have always compiled all evidence and I am the immigrant, and it has never been an issue.

Being from Ireland, you really do not need a huge packet with relationship evidence. The bare minimum is that you prove that you have met in person within 2 years before filing (passport stamps, boarding passes, maybe a few pictures). You can choose to add a little bit more relationship evidence, but that is not a requirement. You can also bring this extra evidence to the interview. The only requirement is the proof of meeting in person.

I second @Dashinka's suggestion of considering the spousal visa. Please research both options. The K-1 may be slightly faster, but the CR-1 has so many advantages.

I think you’re confusing the K-1 requirements with the CR-1.    There is no “relationship evidence” requirement.   You are required to show that you’ve met at least ONCE during the immediate two years prior,  and for this the best evidence is passport stamps and boarding passes.

Ireland is a low fraud country.   You won’t need to front load the petition  with any  extra fluff, like chats or social media stuff. In fact, the more of that you unnecessarily add, the more time it takes them to weed through it.

@QuantumZX no where in your OP did I see you compiling photos of the two of you together.

Ireland is low fraud but we’ve seen I-129F applications in involving Canadian beneficiaries because they don’t have photos.

Make sure each documented meeting in the past two years includes a photo together, preferably in front of a land mark or other marker that corresponds to the destination of the air ticket.

We sent no photos at all.  No RFEs or problems.  We'd had many, many visits, and provided passport stamps.

Fantastic

My opinion on this is rigid.  If you have photos you should include.  If you don’t and you have a trip progress  / planned before you file I-129F you should take photos.

People reading this thread should consider the wisdom of including meaningful "proof of bona fide relationship" material in the I-129F package when the beneficiary is from a high-fraud or poor country.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Ireland and Canada, the countries cited, are in generally considered to be around the same level of fraud as New Zealand.

Pictures are secondary evidence, and by all means send them if you want to.   It was our experience that we were approved without an RFE without sending them.
