Surgery is only in December... don't know anything about the type of treatment/surgery the child needs but would it be possible for them to secure a sooner appointment in the US?

Wait 8 months for surgery in America? With few exceptions (e.g. organ transplants)  not if you have  the money or the insurance.  That’s how for profit medicine works.

Single mother who is a full-time non working caregiver for disabled son is unlikely to be able to afford a 100% out of pocket surgery in the US.

Yeah. We are not married yet. No way we can afford the out of pocket surgery. He will be getting his surgery in the UK, unless my some miracle our K1 is approved before the end of this calendar year. Considering my NOA1 was last week….I’m not holding my breath.

But, she is a single mother with a USC partner... so there is a chance she might not remain single during her visit (the entire reason they are worried she might be denied entry).

So, if it comes up if she is asked why she has to return to the UK... she'd have to convince them that the surgery can only happen in the UK.

I think single Mom with 2 kids shows up. She has charming British accent.

What is the purpose of your trip?

We’re on holiday to enjoy your beautiful Michigan summer.

Enjoy your stay.

Who’s going to hassle a mom with a disabled child?

Haha. If only it were that easy. We are afraid of taking the risk of them getting turned around and getting sent back home. We will just keep our planned trips for this year. Me going to the UK for a week and her coming here (alone) for a week. And me going there for 2 weeks for Xmas. Hopefully the K1 visa process picks up a bit of steam in the next 6 months and we can start planning the wedding and the forever move.

What kind of questioning has she had in the past when she visited?  Has it been difficult before?

In my personal experience that would be INS at YYC pre 9/11.  My son was a late talker and he was screamed at the INS officer for being too slow to identify the adults traveling with him as his parents.

I am stunned by your question; this is CBP for goodness sakes.

Unicorns and sunshine don’t exist at a CBP check point.

They always have for me and my various family members…single daughter, teen niece, teen nephew, sister, Mum and spouse, son and his family. Never one question.  I’m on holiday…Have a good time.
Once when I was entering, CBP officer did pause and comment “You come here a lot.”  I replied “Yeah, I like it here. I have lots of friends and always have a good time.” …Have a good time.

Maybe it’s friendlier in Texas.

My entries through Detroit have always involved questions about 1.) Who I'm visiting and 2.) How long my stay would be...

Once I was asked "When are you marrying your boyfriend?"

Easiest entry was through Boston because we had to do the kiosk thing and everyone (USCs and foreigners) saw the same person.

Detroit has the been the only place where I’ve had any questions about why am I here, after turning up with my USC wife and two kids under the age of 6

“Where are you staying?” Our lake house (yes, Michigan summers are great)

“do you own that home?” Yes

“how long are you staying for?” 6 weeks.

“Please show me proof of a return flight”, We lived in India at that time.

“Have a nice vacation”

Lover and hubby to 1, Daddy to 2. I do enjoy growing older but not growing up.

A filthy, dirty oilfield engineer.

N400 through marriage to another filthy dirty oilfield engineer.
