I was wondering if its acceptable for my fiance to attempt to get a tourist visa while we are waiting for our k-1 to get processed. I can't keep taking vacation to see my fiance in the Philippines all the time, if she could visit me out would help us.

Thanks

It is allowed yes … but highly unlikely it will be granted

Might want to look at processing times.

Issue 1.  The queue for a B2 interview is quite long.

Issue 2.  Your fiance has shown immigrant intent.  Chances for a non-immigrant visa are very slim, imo.  This would be seen as an attempt to usurp the long K-1 queue.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Visit you in 2024 maybe, assuming your fiancee gets approved for a tourist visa.  According to an FB group I'm in, the earliest available B1/B2 interview slot in Manila is for November 2023.

This is just based on my personal experience at the Guatemalan consulate, many years ago. I applied for a Tourist Visa while waiting for my K-1 to be approved and I was granted one, and was able to visit my fiancee (now husband) for Chrismtas that year. I was willing to take the chance, the wait back then was not that long and I did not mind losing the money. It won't affect your K-1 process.. Now that being said, I had been a tourist visa holder since I was a child and had traveled as a tourist many times before I applied for the B2 that time.  If I can find my post about that experience I will post it here, I was worried when entered the POE but I was truthful and stayed only for one week then went back home and waited for my K1.

APPLIED FOR NATURALIZATION 07/2021

08.01.2011 - I-751 SENT

08.05.2011 - Check cashed

08.08.2011- NOA Received

08.19.2011 - Biometrics Letter Received

09.12.2011 - Biometrics Appointment

01.27.2012 - Card production ordered

02.01.2012 - 10 year GC Received

07.25.2021 - N400 filed online

08.09.2021- Biometrics re-use notice

04.18.2022- Interview done at Minneapolis USCIS Local Office   ✔️ Received N-652 "Congratulations your application has been recommended for approval" during the interview.

05.19.2022- Oath Ceremony in MN

A year for a tourist visa that's probably going to get denied... Yikes. Thank you all for your responses. I had no idea a simple tourist visa would take so long. The wait used to be less than a few weeks.

How did the government let it get this bad? A year is unacceptable. My neighbors joke that my fiance should just cross the southern border, it would be easier

Thank you so big, please post if you find it. Many people get denied with no explanation

There is no right to visit the US.  There are many, many, many people in line to visit and immigrate. There are only 24 hours in a day.  This problem will not be solved for a long, long time.
