7-10 Stardard Business Days have passed. Where is my wife’s passport?

Hello all again,

 

We had our interview on April 1st and it is now April 19th.

The embassy took my wife’s passport in that day and it still hasn’t come in the mail. It this usual? Any actual person (not automated service) we can contact to get an update?

Have 7-10 business days passed since you sent them the documents they requested?

Ah, well I sent them my 1040 on the Ceac, but that hasn’t even been checked. With the way my wife made it seem, they said the passport would be sent back in 7 to 10 business days and we need to make sure we send the doc

So is her passport held until the document is sent? My affidavit is filing for 2021 this week

They told you to upload the 1040 on CEAC? I don't think they will issue the visa until that document is checked... Maybe email or call the consulate to see if you should do send in a physical copy or email it to another address.

I never saw an email on the document they gave us to email the document to. They just gave us CEAC.

Hopefully they will look at your documents soon and approve the visa. 

I would call them just confirm you've done the right thing.

 Will call again today at lunch time. All the visa check stuff is automated. It is quite a pain. I will just see if I can talk to someone.

Good luck! 221Gs really complicate the visa approval. Not enough cases out of Japan to know what happens after interview... but hopefully your wife gets her passport back soon and you can move to the US.

Well my question is, if we weren’t good on docs, why would they take the passport?

So I have indeed found out that at this point right now her visa is being refused. We just need to submit the affidavit 2021 1040/ W2 and we will be good to go.
