Hi there,

I have been legally in the U.S for 6 years now. My parents and I applied for Political Asylum 6 years ago; however, it has not ben granted yet (but i have a work permit and social security ever since). I met my husband 3 years ago and we have been living together ever since(same leases contracts, bank accounts and trips for the last 3 years + we did our taxes together this year), and we got married in July 2021 and by August 2021 we sent all of our document, and in December I had the appointment for the finger prints. On April 13th 2022 we got a letter with the approval of the I-130 case and so far there has not been any interview. The only document left to get is my immigration medical exam (I-693), which I will get done tomorrow and send it. I was wondering if it is likely for me to get an interview for the I-485 case, also is it likely for my case to get the permanent green card?

Thanks for the help!

Yes.

Yes.

Why didn't you file all papers at once I-130, I-485 etc. I believe that option is available to you too, despite your asylum application

Immigration journey is not: fast, for the faint at heart, easy, cheap, for the impatient nor right away. If more than 50% of this applies to you, best get off the bus.

So Congratulations! Run and file ur I-485/I-765/I-131/I-864 tomorrow! Not sure if they will waive the interview but I think you may be scheduled super fast ( because of the previously approved I-130 ) .

You married July 2021 so u get the 2 year card if your case is approved anytime before July 2023.

I did file both (I-130, I-864 and I-485 in August 2021) at the same time. I was also wondering if is possible for my case to get the permanent green card instead of the temporary one (we’ve been together sharing everything for 3 years, but have been married for only 1 year)

Only if married for 2 years when the green card is approved.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

That is irrelevant.

Did you file the rest too as mentioned by @Family

This seems like NEWS of changes in the AIR..

If I-130 was just approved April ,2022 but had been filed concurrently w I-485 ( am sure OP did the underlying app) …So Service Center approves I-130 BEFORE it lands in Field Office and on IO’ lap. I don’t think they will wave interview but it will be at drive through speed and happen soon.

Yes, I did file all the forms back in August 2021, except the I-693

Did you get a Notice to “ send in the I-693” ? Please write here what the notice said  and WHERE it should be mailed ? If they want it mailed in …it’s possible u are the first on VJ to experience I-485 waived interview under new protocols

I got a “Request for Evidence” on April 13th and they only asked for the I-693 medical report and I have to send it by mail to the local USCIS offices in Orlando, FL
