There are two important facts regarding the Sea-Monkey® brand name. First, like the names given to some aquatic animals, which are mostly based on certain behavior or similarities to their land counterparts. The Sea-Monkey's® name is based on the creature's funny behavior and long tail. However it is rumored that they really do look like the cartoon and telepathically mask their appearance.

Second of all, "Sea-Monkeys®" is actually a trademark name owned by Transcience Corp. and it must be used *ONLY* to represent "Artemia NYOS" brand products.

Are they Brine Shrimp?

Sea-Monkeys® are a unique species of brine shrimp, known by the scientific name of Artemia NYOS. We not only unlocked the most elusive secrets of their life cycle, we created new formulas to keep them alive under conditions found in the average home—an accomplishment never before achieved! Finally, after years of crossbreeding, we developed a hybrid. These amazing new hybrids grow larger and live longer than any "natural" variety of brine shrimp. Resulting from the most exquisitely sophisticated “aquaculture technology”, by true pioneers in this science, only the utmost resources of a leading marine biological research center working for a span of many years has made this project a complete success.

Hats off to these guys.

Amen, brother. Where would most of us guys be without being exposed to such scientific breakthroughs like Sea-Monkeys and X-ray glasses?

I never actually had the Sea-Monkeys. I was more interested in the "survival knife" at the back of the magazines. You know, the big Rambo looking SOB with the compass on the end and the pouch for the whetstone? It was so cool! It had like 4 fishing hooks, some fishing line, a couple of matches, and a wire "saw" all inside the handle.

It's just too bad it wouldn't cut anything!

I haven't bought a comic book in years. The DC and Marvel comix were 12 cents when I first started buying them as a kid. Yes...I remember the ads in the back of the comics of Sea Monkeys and X-Ray glasses that were supposed to see through chicks' clothes. Even as a kid I was skeptical of all the claims in the ads.

Remember the Charles Atlas ads in the comix? Yes...you too can be a real man instead of a 90 pound weakling getting sand kicked in you face at the beach by the hunk that steals your girlfriend. What a hoot!

Every time I hear 'Sea Monkeys' I think of the Southpark 'Simpsons Already Did It' episode with the Sea People. Great episode!

You won't have to spank your monkey if you have one of these beauties. At $9.95 it's a bargain and a whole lot cheaper than having a wife. ;)

I am a Sea Monkey killer.

I had Sea Monkeys once- they were growing nicely too. I had them in my room on a table. I knocked the aquarium over by accident.

RIP Sea Monkeys.

No sea monkeys for me. But I did have a small turtle that my mom left on the radiator. She admitted it years later. :(

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

:o

My father threw away all my baseball trading cards (I kept them in a grocery bag in my closet)... I had Hank Aaron, Nolan Ryan, Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson, Catfish Hunter... so many of the greats.
