Today, randomly I remembered about this website/forum. I thought I'd pop in and say hello. I doubt I would recognize any one of you (or you, me) from my stint here from back in 2010 era.  You guys have new-fangled online filing and stuff. Back in my days, we had to fill out PDF and print it and mail it and them someone would have to type it back in immigration system. It was quite a thing. Also when we emailed NVC, we had to put "ATTN: Supervisor Sue" in the subject line and whatever it's worth, it actually worked. We'd get replies. I hope everyone from those time are having a good life and a happy life. And I hope everyone new here much luck and well wishes. May your immigration process and life goes as smoothly as you want. I'm going to stick around for a bit to learn some stuff. Are there still racists here? I remember we had some anti-immigrant immigration applicant here back in the days. It was surreal. Here they were asking for immigration advice and help and then coming to off topic to post anti-immigration opinion. The "I got mine, screw you' crowd. I hope they are not here and they are having a terrible life.

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I used to stay at the Seoul Grand Hyatt.  The Seoul Tower is right across from this hotel, and Itaewon is a short walk albeit a little hilly.

So cool to  see this thread right after I randomly dropped into VJ too after so many years!!

Well, not quite so randomly.

I did my Visa journey stint around 2008-2010 when we went through K-1/AOS etc (I honestly don't even remember all the acronyms) for my wife from Thailand. So here we are, 12 years later, happily married with a 7 year old daughter. Just another VJ success story.

So what, you ask, am I doing back on VJ now? No, I'm not here to engage in the raging political fights I recall on off-topic.

Rather, wen(the wife and I) have started looking seriously at the possibility of sponsoring a refugee Ukrainian family under the new Uniting for Ukraine program https://www.uscis.gov/humanitarian/uniting-for-ukraine

I thought maybe there might be some useful information on VJ from others who are exploring this option. I haven't seen anything here though I'll keep looking.

ok, I did find some discussion here . What I'm really looking for though are other people in same situation as we are: concerned Americans who want to help by sponsoring a Ukrainian family but who don't know anyone there. I have found a couple of Facebook groups devoted to this. I kind of expected VJ to be out in front of it however it's so new (the program was only launched on Monday) that perhaps no one here has brought it up.

Oh what a great idea. Might want to post about the program in site discussion to see if Captain Ewok can create a place for this discussion. I'm sure as it becomes more known more will come here looking for information too.

Oh and welcome back.
