Which visa while waiting for spouse visa?

as others have mentioned - there is no other visa you can use to be in the us. your spouse needs to be in the us, beucase being outside right now can jeopardize his permanent resident status (you mentioned he activated the status, and then left and hasn't been back for 6 months - that can be seen as a big red flag as-is)...

consulates in other countries generally do not book appointments for folks who are not residing (working/going to school) in the country where the consulate is. you can't just choose a consulate with shrter wait time and interview there...

yep, that is what we want to avoid. We won't live separated

There are no shortcuts in immigration. No one wishes to be separated from their significant other. If you have to go through legal ways to immigrate then patience is the key and separation for most part is inevitable.

When we were talking about immigration with my wife, we were saying 2 years. And we were fine with that, as I had to stay here, establish residency, find a job, and make a living for her and me before she enters.

Imagine entering a country and not having any financial support, wouldn’t that be panicking and problematic? Unless you do have someone who would be willing to sponsor you.

We said we would wait roughly 2 years, and we went through non-immigrant visa options, but were advised against that. So we didn’t bother doing it.

We didn’t wait 2 years, we had to wait 4 years, it was hard, heartbreaking, but now, we are so happy and I think it was well worth it.

So If your husband is able to meet you during the process, it is great, otherwise he will have to prove his residency and US domicile and it takes time, unfortunately.

At this time, the sooner he applies, the sooner you guys can immigrate to the US. Meanwhile for the distance problem, after he finds a job and is able to prove it, if he could work remotely then you can see each other more often.

I would suggest you reading stories and timelines.

Best wishes for all!
