Hi all,

Apologies as this questions is probably redundant, but just looking for reassurance of the process with police certificates.

As per the government website:

Important: Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued.

I currently live in the UK where was born and am a citizen. I previously lived in Switzerland for 18 months 2016-2017 and a few years later (2019) ordered a police certificate that was required for a job. This certificate will be valid for the NVC (along with a UK police certificate) despite being over 2 years old as I have not entered Switzerland since ordering the certificate in 2019.

Has anyone been in a similar situation and sent a police certificate over 2 years old? If there is any doubt of its validity I can simply order a new one; the certificate was fairly cheap to order but took a few weeks and we're looking to submit docs asap.

Thanks in advance.

As you have not returned to Switzerland after the certificate was issued I would upload it to NVC

Many thanks. Fortunately that is the document I already have. It has an old address on it (where I lived in 2019), do you know if I will need one with my current address?
