My fiance sent me a VHS tape of us when i was there for easter 2 years ago, and of him recently. MY VCR WONT PLAY IT! The sound is like the chipmunks, and its a fuzzy picture. I dont know what to do. He did this for me because he thought it would help me get through this visa processes easier, but the way it is now, im getting more stressed!! anyone got any ideas?

tara... have you tried to clean the vhs player? try that... and hope it works!~

ps: walmart used to sell the vhs cleaners... look there if you don't have one... not sure if they still do... i feel that they would because they still sell vhs movies...

hmmm..someone will know better than me..but i think vcr are different and record different depending where you are from....something about 5 world spheres??

Yes, that is part of it. Also different record/play tracks are used.

PAL = Europe/most of the World

NTSC = USA

DVD if you have and can get region 0, will play anything from anywhere :D

So even if it is the way i see it, no pic, and chimpmunk sounds, i can have it converted to a DVD? i tried cleaning my VCR it did nothing for it. and my VCR says it can play any vhs from anywhere as long as it has the VHS logo, well they lied.

all the tape says is video cassete, VHS

If the problem is just that it is not in your VCR's format, then yes, it can be converted to DVD.

ok i wonder if CVS photo lab can do it

this just sucks, my VCR is brand new, so is my dvd player, i was hoping it would detect PAL

Ok i found a place here in town who can convert it to VEIWABLE dvd for me for $9.95 :dance:

im taking it down there now :)

this has happened to andy and I many times so we can sympathise. It totally sucks.....
