😂 Of course I get lucky every time and end up with the slow offices. Ah well. Whatever. It takes however long it takes.

I will be, but honestly not in any rush to do it right away. I currently have dual citizenship already between Australia and my parents home country, so trying to think about whether or not I may want to renounce citizenship to their country as I never wanted it to begin with, or if that's going to be more effort than it's worth (and whether or not the family will get upset over it).

I figure I'll put it off maybe a month at most and then start on the paperwork.

Same here, we usually get slow offices as well. It's particularly disheartening to me to see SRC filers from June 2019 - January 2020 getting approved with no interview while there are people from 2018 still waiting! At this point I assume that the i-751 cases from May 2019 going backwards are stuck in a black hole and that n-400 is the way forward.

It's understandable to be unsure about revoking your citizenship. Not that my opinion counts, but unless you want to vote having a permanent residence status is good move as it can give more options. Just my two cents!

I feel you there. I've had a couple of things just hit a snag and take longer without any good understanding as to why, and just had to assume they fell into that USCIS black hole.
I'm really hoping to see some sort of an update within the next month, so I at least know it's being looked at. After my nightmare experience with my I-90 replacement, I honestly try to avoid thinking about it too much haha.

I appreciate it! I plan to retain my Australian citizenship, but since I have no emotional/personal connection to the other country and see no benefit or reason to really retain it, I'd rather revoke that one, especially since it was decided for me when I was a kid and had I been given the choice as an adult, I would've just said no to it to begin with.
Baaah, it's just one load of paperwork after the other! Luckily the N-400 forms don't look too hard to fill out so I may very well end up doing it sooner than I initially anticipated.

My case has been stuck at "case has been updated to show that fingerprints were taken" since November 2019....there's been no updates.  I'm honestly starting to wonder what's going on - I think my 18 month extension is up at the end of the year and I am not feeling like they will get to my case before then!!  Fingers crossed though.

I wasn't feeling any particular urgency to go ahead and file n-400 but I'm thinking that maybe I should so that SOMETHING can get moving?  Any thoughts on this?  Thanks guys!

Mine has been the same "case has been updated to show that fingerprints were taken" since May, 2019 and nothing has moved since. - I applied for n-400 though, at least to have something  moving

when is your 18 month extension up?  I'm actually concerned because I wonder if they haven't approved it before the extension is up, we will be out of status!!  what happens then?

My extension expires in November. I talked to a USCIS agent and they told me that you can get in touch with them for another extension 30 days prior you expiration day... but you know, I take that with a grain a salt.

I'm in the same situation. "fingerprints were taken" since November last year till now, nothing new. Nebraska service center. I think maybe it is a good idea to apply for N 400, I may do that soon.

I highly recommend filing online, it's very smooth and it filters out questions that don't apply to you based on your answers. Much easier and way less confusing then the paper form. If you haven't already, I recommend that you create an account and start filling out the form, it gives you a good idea of what they want from you. You don't have to submit it if you change your mind, and if you just need more time the answers are being saved for 30 days from the date you last saved any info. It wasn't until I actually logged in and starting filing out the form that I realized how simple it actually is.

The greencard and extension letter are only proof of your status, they're not your status itself. So even if they expire your status is still the same. To be compared to a passport, just because the passport expires doesn't mean you lose your citizenship.

They are correct, if you're within 30 days of the expiration date on your extension letter you can call USCIS and ask for an infopass. At the infopass they will give you a stamp in your passport, which is proof of your status the same way the greencard and the extension letter is.
