Hi guys, anyone know how long it takes for the biometrics to be issued after receiving the NOA1?

My wife got her appt letter about 5 days after she received the NOA1.  She had her biometrics done about 8 days later.  So within 2 weeks of her NOA1 she had her biometrics completed.

It's different for everyone. Some get it a few days after NOA1, some get it months later or even over a year later. MSC filers are going to receive theirs fast because NBC prepares the cases for interviews, and the processing times between field offices vary a lot. Some are really fast, lucky those who get an interview at a field office like that.

Other service centers are not in a hurry as they have no use for your biometrics until they actually pick up your case to go through it, likely a year or more from NOA1.

Ok.  I don't really understand something you said about this......Can you explain how MSC is different from the other service centers in the way they handle I-751s?

Hello guys, I am not a May filer but will be filing my ROC this August. Just a Q, what did you guys use to send your package. I noticed that if I send thru express USPS it would be a PO Box. Is someone going to sign it there? Thank you!

I used FedEx Overnight and it came with delivery confirmation (Signature).

NBC doesn't process i-751 cases, but the other service centers do. NBC only prepares the cases for interviews, meaning they do some pre-screening (some background checks, but also makes sure that the cases have all required documents etc), and biometrics. They don't go through your case to check if there's enough proof, they only care about the basics. It's the field office the case will be sent to that is doing the actual processing and make a decision.

They process cases. They pick it up, go through it, do all necessary research, check the evidence you sent, send RFEs if needed, and finally makes a decision. If even after an RFE they still can't make a decision, they will transfer the case to NBC so NBC can prepare the case for an interview.

NBC doesn't do this (apart from background checks), the field office the case is sent to, from NBC, is the one going through all evidence, holds the interview, makes the desicion etc. NBC just prepared the case by doing the background checks and made sure all basic documents (including biometrics) were there so the case is "complete". They don't look at the evidence at all, just the basic required documents.

Still no biometrics letter.
Just tried to check in on the USCIS Case Status page out of curiosity, but it's saying my receipt number doesn't exist - should I be concerned? :S
edit: I have a WAC receipt # if that makes any difference whatsoever or if anyone who also has a WAC number can chime in - is your receipt # showing anything??

It took 3 weeks for my case number to be identified in the system, so don't worry. Some posters say their info didn't show up until after they did their Biometrics. You may want to check the new USCIS site, too.

Thank you! Didn't think to go to the new website, mega facepalm. Looks like the receipt number is showing up there, just no progress on the case; totally fine with that for now, just happy that it's not telling me the number doesn't exist!

Yes, WAC here too and case shows on the new page. The old one usually only shows after biometrics have been done - which can take months or even over a year. So no need to worry about not getting an appointment yet, it's still VERY early in the process.
