So if every case goes to NBC, there's no telling whether you will be called for interview or not based off of your receipt# service center!!

Do you think the case will be sent to NBC after it is assigned a service center? for eg. I got LIN# to begin with!

Every ROC case isn't sent to NBC/MSC, you for instance ended up with LIN, right? I ended up with WAC. Those cases who did end up with MSC, mostly CR-1 cases from what I have seen in the last few months threads here on VJ, are likely to get interviews. They are sent to NBC for a reason, and NBC prepares cases for interviews.

I have seen a few cases that have in fact been transferred from the first service center they were assigned to, to NBC to be prepared for an interview, yes. So it's possible, but I have no idea how common it is. Likely many of those cases are those with not enough proof of bonafide marriage, so the first service center can't make a decision. They can only send RFEs in such circumstances, and if the RFE still isn't good enough, an interview is likely next.

Either way, an interview is nothing to fear, it's a great opportunity to convince the IO that you have a bonafide marriage. I had an interview for AOS and hope for one for my ROC too, it was a great experience and the IO could really tell how real we are. Also, my field office isn't too badly backed up, if getting an interview my case might actually go faster than being stuck at CSC for God knows how long. I'm also only 10 minutes away from my LFO, which helps a lot. Some have to drive hours to get there.

Same here! My husband is CR6. We got WAC.

CR6 means you guys already had an interview within the US for your i-130/AOS, so you could potentially be interview waved for the ROC. I'm at CSC, like you.

CR6 means you applied for change of status while you were already living in US and did not come to US on a Fiance Visa.  I don't think it says anything about interviewed or not. 🙂

Just looked at the processing times for the Vermont Service Center, and they are saying 14.5 to 19 months for approval of the removal of conditions! Eek! Is that accurate? That'll be nearly three times as long as the adjustment of status took us...

05/04/2017: I-485 Interview Scheduled

06/06/2017: I-485 Interview in Boston, MA - Approved! (146 Days)

06/08/2017: 2-Year Green Card Mailed

This is correct, to furthermore, some AOS applicants under CR6 category got their two year green card without the interview.

CR6 is absolutely like you said those who filed for AOS within the US. That means they already went through an interview within the US (exactly what I wrote in the post quoted), meaning they could very possibly be waived for an interview for their ROC. They already had one for their AOS, just like many of us K1ers.

It's more likely that the CR1 cases, you know those who didn't have an interview within the US, gets an interview for their ROC at this point. And looking at these threads, most CR1 cases are in fact sent to NBC who is the service center that prepares cases for interviews.

Our receipt number is also LIN, but have doubts it will take that long.

For example, my wife and I mailed out our combined i130/AOS package on 4/4/17 and her green card was dated 7/25/17. We had our interview on 7/21/17 in the Louisville KY office. Seems pretty fast eh?

Let me rephrase! LIN is the worst for I 751! 🙂

Also had our application sent to EAC...Note that those are current wait times. So by the time it's our turn, the approval time might go down or even up.

ROC seems a lot less certain than doing AOS from K1, where we were pretty certain we were getting our interview waived since our application was never sent to local field office...and was approved in just 6 months. To add more uncertainty to the equation I'm noticing that even those who have their interviews waived during their ROC process take just as long to have their cases approved.

I've actually been following the N-400 / I-751 combo thread to see how things are going for those folks since I anticipate my spouse will end up in the same boat next year! For AOS I was hoping we would get approved in 6 months and we got lucky. For ROC I would consider lucky if we get approved within a year so my spouse can have his 10 year GC before applying for citizenship!

Spoiler

K1 Timeline:

7/18/2016 --> I-129F application sent

1/26/2017 --> K1 visa received

Adjustment of Status Timeline:

2/7/17 --> I-485, I-131, I-765 (AOS+AP+EAD) application sent

8/18/2017--> green card received in mail

Removal of Conditions Timeline:

5/14/2019 --> I-751 application sent

10/2/2020 --> 10-year green card received in mail

Naturalization Timeline:

7/28/2020--> Submitted N-400 application online

2/12/2021--> Biometrics re-use letter received

4/30/2021--> Interview scheduled for 6/8/2021

6/8/2021-->  Approved during interview

6/21/2021-->  oath ceremony - officially US citizen

K1: 7/18/2016 --> 1/26/2017

AOS: 2/7/17 --> 8/18/2017

ROC:  5/14/2019 --> 10/2/2020

Naturalization: 7/28/2020--> 6/21/2021

And the timeline for AOS is 10 -23 months for Louisville. We we're approved in less than 4 months from mailing. I just don't believe it will take as long as their website says.
