The letter never mentions if it's a combo or not, the absolute majority of everyone who gets a combo interview only receives an interview letter for the N-400, not for the i-751 (sometimes even the other way around). A combo interview letter doesn't exist (not yet anyway, maybe in the future).

Chatting and calling regular tier 1 customer support won't help anything, the only ones who could potentionally see anything regarding your case is tier 2.

Definitely go to the interview with your husband. If they're doing a combo and want to interview you too for the i-751 then at least you're there, that way you guys don't get rescheduled.

Scandi, thanks for the heads up. I'll definitely plan to go to the interview with my husband.

Don’t get frustrated. For what I see in your timeline you didn’t have interview for AOS and your application was approved in 4 months. Back then my process for AOS was over 20 months because it required interview. This time for ROC it was approved in less than 5 months. So most of people have to wait for a long time, some at the beginning and some at the end. Don’t think it only happens to you, we all had to wait at some point. So look up, better days are ahead!!

I appreciate your response but I find it a bit condescending. It's rude to tell me to not be frustrated. Yes, I was lucky and did not need an interview for my initial AOS and yes it was approved quickly. Yes I know others had to wait much longer at that point and at this point are seeing quicker responses for their RoC. That doesn't make it reasonable for it to be that way for either group of people. Just because I had a quick wait at the beginning, in comparison to you, that doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be frustrated. I would've been equally frustrated had it been the opposite. The fact that people are having to wait insanely long amounts of time with no way to get an answer on anything is unreasonable, regardless of WHEN in the process that happens. You are seeing it here - people are having issues of all sorts. The situation IS frustrating and I'm aware it's not just for me, but for everyone. I am currently pregnant and my husband and I are trying to purchase a house, top that off with COVID, it's a frustrating situation as my last piece of photo ID is about to expire and I'm stuck with a complicated issue. I know there are others with equally complicated issues if not more so. So I will continue to be frustrated for my own sake and others.

I understand completely your situation and I wish it would take only months for most people like it used to be 4 or so years ago.

The reason for any delays at the beginning or at the end of the process is the interview. Not only they are doing it to more categories but also add the pandemic, less people working at their facilities and you have tens of thousands maybe hundreds of thousands of people waiting for them to be scheduled to go. It also depends on how busy local offices are.

Filed for I-751 in May 2019. They transferred my case from Vermont service center to the Potomac service center in Feb 2020 for "faster processing". A year later, last week they transferred my case to NBC for "faster processing". I guess the first transfer was not for "faster processing" after all. I am glad I went in and got my I-551 stamp a couple weeks ago. Anyone know what a transfer to NBC means? I filed my N-400 in July 2020. Could it have anything to do with that?

Transfer to NBC means typically it's being prepared for an interview, pending availability with your local office. It is quite possible your ROC and citizenship interviews will be combined as one, when the time comes.

My husband's case was also moved from Vermont to Potomac last February, but it looks like we were one of the lucky ones because his ROC was approved without an interview in 9/2020. Also applied for N-400 in July 2020 and waiting on that but fortunately that's not urgent. I find it crazy that so many people who filed same time as him - almost two years ago - are still waiting to hear back on their ROC applications! Courage and good luck to everyone out there.

Update: we contacted a U.S. Senator and they got an appointment for us. They told us at 1145 and that the appointment was at 1330 at a place that was 1 hour 15 minutes away. We, uh, somehow made it and she got the i-551 stamp. That saves us A LOT of headache as far as her job and our house are concerned.

Hello,

can you please let me know what is the document you carried with you to show it’s indeed an emergency request? I am in a same boat of you and I have new offer letter with me and contacted local congressman for infopass appointment.

thank you.

May I ask what your case number is? Not to share the whole thing but I’m just curios to see where they are at now. You don’t have to if you don’t want to. Thank you in advance.

I have called the USCIS to schedule for info pass and they said they will call us within 7 business days but it’s been over 2 weeks and haven’t heard from them...it’s kinda dumb that they can’t just schedule the infopass and they me the date to be there....very stressful

Hi Kranthi,

She didn't show a document to the senator, but we informed that we'd lose the house we're buying, her job, and her driver's license, which was all true. In the end it worked out but we were most worried as the average family needs two incomes to survive. I'd try senators as well in addition to the representatives.

Thank you for the update. I meant the document to show in field office, they mentioned for urgent infopass appointments we need to provide proof of your emergency to substantiate your claim. Does not it required ?

As far as I know she wasn't asked for such evidence. It is ridiculous they do not consider expiring proof of status as an emergency. They aren't stupid, they know it can lead to financial ruin for families yet they still stonewall people.
