My husband and I live in the DC area, too, so I'm glad to see your post. We filed his I-751 in April 2019 and got the I-551 stamp in his passport earlier this week, as his 18-month extension expired on Wednesday (1/27). We filed the N-400 in May 2020. Just wanted you to know that those of us in DMV all seem to be in the same boat with the snail-like speed.

My husband's I-751 was also transferred to NBC in March 2020. The case status changed to "ready to be scheduled for an interview" in May 2020, but we've heard nothing since then. We contacted Congresswoman Norton's office for help inquiring with USCIS on our behalf since we're outside of normal processing time, but USCIS just came back with the same info we can find online.

Hello Lanyahui, I have been trying to get the I-551 stamp and have no idea of how to go about it , my 18months extension expired on 27th of January , could you pls help with some information in regards to this .

Thank you

I haven't, but if I did I would upload the expired conditional greencard, the extension letter and any potential i-551 stamp(s). Then you've done what you could, covered all bases.

My wife called for an infopass appointment also two weeks ago and finally got a call back. They refused to schedule an appointment because "there weren't any spots available". When my wife told them she will lose her job and driver's license they basically said USCIS doesn't care as they don't consider those emergencies. We have budgeted our lives for two incomes (what Americans don't?) and we are afraid we will lose our home and other things. Closing in on two years in May and the silly USCIS can't be bothered to do anything.

This can be an absolutely backwards country...

Thanks Scandi. Congrats on the interview for Citizenship.  Crazy how we were a few weeks behind you in the I-751 process and now we are almost a year behind when it comes to Citizenship. We are still waiting for ROC.

Thanks. Needless to say the US immigration process is very erratic and impossible to understand on so many levels. 😁 I didn't know it would turn out to be a good thing that I was scheduled for an interview for my AOS back in 2017. Had I gotten an interview waiver back then, my ROC very likely would've taken a lot longer than it did now. I would've had to wait for an interview and my field office is one of the slowest. But thanks to my AOS interview I never needed one for ROC and was approved in a little less than a year. 👍

There are so many still waiting for their ROC to be adjudicated, makes you wonder if field offices are focusing on handing out interviews to all other applicants but the ROC ones. Imo, because if the massive backlog, they should seriously waive a lot more ROC interviews. It would save everyone a lot of time and hassle.

Are you guys filing for citizenship now?

Yes. As soon as we can get an I-551 stamp. Waiting for USCIS to schedule an appt. That way it looks like we are managing our case better than USCIS is. We moved recently to a different state and had to wait the 3 months to be eligible for N-400. I'm so tired of the process and ready for it to be over.
