Vermont Center is 18 months... so 17 months is when I can submit a case inquiry which would be in October... then they will send out another ext if they have to cuz mine expires in November.

I was responding to the WAC filer as I am also WAC, so processing times will be different for CSC versus other locations.

Same situation here too. Just went to see if I could put in an inquiry since I'm at 16 months now but nope. I'm guessing I have to wait until the 20 month mark to do that? Either way, it's getting frustrating. I'm planning on doing my N400 before the October fee increase though.

Yeah if the processing time states "15-23" months then you're only outside of normal processing times after 23 months.

And yes, definitely file your N-400 before the fee goes up. And make sure to do it online, it's safer in the sense that it's almost impossible to get it rejected. If you file on paper and happen to have a mistake that gets it rejected, it'll be too late to re-file with the current fees as it takes a few weeks to find out that it was rejected.

Today, I found a weird change in my USCIS status.
In May, it said my case was ready for an interview as of May 5. However, when I checked the status today, it said my case is ready for an interview as of September 9. This change of date gave me an odd feeling that USCIS modified this date on purpose to make it seem like there was a shorter wait time from now to the interview date and in reality, my file has been sitting there for an interview since May. Anyway, I feel like this delay really limited my freedom to travel, work, and more in everyday life.

Hopefully it means it got "touched" by someone taking action on your case and not a reason to make it longer.

The same thing happened to me recently, but that is after I had reached USCIS  after not receiving a notice in the mail, so I'd also assume it got "touched"  because I asked for information. My status has been "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" since April 2020.

In April , I got a notification on the case tracker app that "case was transferred and a new office has jurisdiction" (which I assumed meant it went to NBC). Then a week later my status updated to "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" (which I assumed meant it got transferred to my local office)

I never received an NOA in the mail for either of these updates. Because of Covid, I was ready for delays but I never received anything. I submitted a first inquiry in June and got no response. I submitted a second inquiry in August and got this response by email :

"Type of service requested: Non-Delivery of Other Notice
The status of this service request is: USCIS systems indicate that your case is awaiting an interview. Your local USCIS Field Office will contact you once they are able to schedule the appointment.

On March 18, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services temporarily suspended routine in-person services to help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19). Beginning  June 4, 2020, certain USCIS Field Offices and Asylum Offices will resume non-emergency face-to-face services to the public, unless local Health Officials determine public closures should be extended further. Application Support Centers will resume services later. USCIS has enacted precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. Please follow all mitigation instruction contained in that notice.

Thank you for the information! We haven't even been scheduled for an interview and the case was transferred May 15th, 2020. Last time we called they said the case was still at NBC and N-400 hasn't helped either as we've heard not a peep from that case. I'm hoping that there isn't something bad going on with her case (nationality being what it is and all).

Hi Harold. Thanks for giving me the positivity! Things have gotten out of norm and I think that’s why I interpreted this change negatively. Any update should be appreciated, actually. I’ll keep updating in this forum if I notice any other updates. Have a great day!

Spouse just received email from USCIS saying new card is being produced! K1 filer, no interview for AOS, and no interview for ROC. Further details on case can be found in signature below and timeline.

Interesting thing is when logging on to the new website (myUSCIS), the status has not been updated, but the update can be found in the old website. so make sure to check the old website and sign up for email/sms notifications.

Hi all, I recently sent back paperwork for RFE. Is it advisable to also apply for naturalization while waiting for a response on removal of conditions? I'm just concerned since we received the RFE. All facts/opinions appreciated 😃

RFE is typically good news - it means there is movement on your case and if they receive everything they ask for you could very well get approved within a couple of weeks after they receive the documents.

If your goal is to obtain citizenship I would recommend doing it ASAP before the fee increases by 80% starting 10/02/2020 - that's this Friday!!

My spouse applied for N-400 two months after he was eligible and that didn't seem to affect his ROC since he was approved without interview or RFEs just this week.
