221g received for H1B application

I had my interview on 14th Jan and was given 221g. On 25th I received an email to submit additional document for processing. I submitted the documents on 28th Feb. Its almost 6 weeks now and I haven’t received any updates on my case. I was on vacation for 3 weeks and I am stuck here for almost 3 months now. 
 

Can I apply for B2 visa and go to USA to settle my things (apartment, car , etc) and come back? What are the chances of visa approval with this admin processing going on? 
I am paying rent even though I am not staying and no salary. It’s very tuff situation. Are the consulate really overwhelmed or just creating nuisance for IT folks from Indian subcontinent??

 

Any suggestions is highly appreciated.

You can always apply, but looking at the wait times above, you may be out of AP before you even get a visa appointment.

 

Chances of approval depend on your case, and we know nothing about your case.

I think you have to wait. Most likely you'll get denied the B2 because of your pending H1B, and that could even delay your H1B even further.
