Don't worry since it's already been fixed and like as said it's was IRS issue not an immigration issue. Wish you all the best.

Married is married.  The accountant is wrong.  You cannot legally file as single if you are married.  You can make him/her file a 1040X to amend the filing status if you want.

Don't worry for now, no need to amend at this time. Your wife's tax return filing as single is an IRS issue, doesn't impact your visa processing. All the embassy wants to see is the petitioner is payi

You only need SSN/ ITIN to file “married filing jointly.” Your wife can file “married filing separately” in the absence of your SSN/ ITIN.   I recommend your wife fire the current accountant
