Hello!

I filed an 1-130 for my husband and I was trying to find some information online regarding military records for Korean men for the CR-1/IR-1 visa.

Does anyone know more about this?
Do they just check that the Korean husband has completed their service?

My husband actually received a medical exemption and completed his service, so I am curious how this affects our case.

If anyone can help me and provide more information that would be great!

Thank you!

To my understanding some medical exemptions still lead to completing some sort service.

I have friends who served with schools, medical centers and the police department in order to complete the mandatory military service.

Make sure to check that link for the civil documents needed at NVC stage.

Its a little annoying to figure out the name of the document because of transliteration but it can be done!

Every country has different requirements.

If your husband has lived in another country (not the US) for 1 year or more he should get a PCC from that country.

Hi! So I’ve asked about Korean military records before. But my question is about the records in general. Do they just want the record in the NVC stage to ensure the spouse has completed military service in their country where it’s required and not served in a military that has actively threatened the US? Do they ask about your military service during the embassy interview?

my husband completed his service but I am just curious what they will ask because he had a medical exemption from his service, but due to this it was marked as completed and satisfied for his country’s requirements. So his service requirement is completed.

Anyone with experience on this?

thank you in advance!!
