I really really really need a can't put it down type book or two. I don't read much for fun, except for the news and various articles but when I do I like to make it count. I'm not into the Harlequin romance type books. The last really really good book I read was The Romanov Prophecy and before that I think it was The Third Secret. I like books that have a hint of truth or possibility of truth to them, like the Divinci Code, etc.

Any ideas? :help:

The wife really like The Traveler

I can recommend Neuromancer. Intelligent "blade runner-esque" science fiction.

You should try Angels & Demons from the same writter Dan Brown......It's good too

I read that. The last line was incredibly cheesy.

"You've never been to bed with a yoga instructor".

Books I like:

The Alchemist - Paulo Coelho

The Road - Cormac McCarthy

Anna Karenina - Tolstoy (but, it's very long. Big Book)

The Heart is a Lonely Hunter - Carson McCullers

Me Talk Pretty One Day - David Sedaris ** i have audio excerpts of his books, too**

Naked in Baghdad - **audio book**

Also, I like short stories. I like Stephen King collections.

Are you looking for something to read on the plane?

Yeah just until I can get to sleep. Something to get my mind off of the obvious. lol.

I loved the Alchemist. I read that during my last flight to Florida. Anna Karenina was one I HAD to read in High School. You read that one for fun??

I like ones I can read moreso than audio. I'm oldfashioned that way.

I just put The Alexandria Link- A Novel, by Steve Berry in my shopping cart at amazon. Seems appropriate and looks like a page turner. I need a few more though.

You should try Angels & Demons from the same writter Dan Brown......It's good too

I read it but wasn't too thrilled believe it or not. I thought the Divinci Code was much better.

I think I read the Alchemist in about an hour and a half. I have read it about 6 times.

I saw the movie Anna Karenina first, and I was curious so I decided to read it.

I love to read more than listening to audio books too, but in the case of David Sedaris, his books are all about comedy and different characters and crazy behaviors, so it's more fun to listen to him read it. (even though the southern accent in my head sounds exactly like him!!)

I finished the Da Vinci Code in 2 days I think. I couldn't stop reading it.

In another thread, I think that allousa or WOM recommended The Lemon Tree, a book about Palestine that they thought was very interesting.

aaaaaaah, I just remembered, on my flight here to Egypt I started reading The Devil Wears Prada, but found myself more interested in my personal little screen with games, music, movies, etc. I think I watched Pirates of the Caribbean and then played Solitaire and Trivia for about 6 hours. Way to enhance my mind during a flight!!!

I just read A Thousand Splendid Suns, the new one from Khaled Hosseini who also wrote the Kite Runner. It was EXCELLENT, I finished it in a day and a half.

oh that was excellent too, in fact I was a little scared to read the Thousand Splendid Suns because I was afraid it wouldnt measure up to the Kite Runner but it did and in fact I might even like it better. They are both very emotional reads, though. Be prepared.
