Don’t have immunization records

Hi everyone, 

 

if you don’t have a copy of your immunization records and your dr doesn’t either, can I just request to get them again at the medical? My dr books 3 months out, so I’m wondering if I’m better off doing it that way.

It really will depend where you are getting your medical done at. Many do not offer vaccines at the medical in Canada. Some do but they will not be free like if you went to your family doctor or health unit.

 

Call the Health Unit they do keep a record for a pretty good amount of time. Your other option is having your doctor do a Titers test. It's a simple blood test that will let you know what vaccines you show immunity. You will need Tdap not just the tetanus shot and this one normally from what I have been told does not show up in a titers test. If you ever had chicken pox you just need to tell them and they write it down. 

 

Make sure you have the right list on which vaccines you do need if needed. They go by age.

What Ontarkie said...as it is, the medical isn't cheap.  Paying out of pocked for a ton of vaccines isn't worth it and it may set you back time wise because some are 2 dose vaccines.  Just do the titers test now and get what you need.  You shouldn't need an appointment to get the request in for the test - they should be able to send the requisition to the lab.  Even a walk in doctor could do that for you.
