Hello,

My wife (spouse of US citizen) is eagerly waiting for the interview date at the Mumbai consulate. We got Documentarily qualified on 23rd March 2022. It has been close to 3 weeks and there is no response in-spite of being current. Our CEAC portal still shows that the case is at the NVC. We started the process 1 year and 4 months ago and still do not have a visa in hand. If there is anyone else in a similar boat please let us know how long it took for you to get a visa interview in 2022 at Mumbai. We are stressed out just waiting in limbo. The US should really fix this. Keeping newly married families apart from each other for so long is just terrible and unfair.

Thank you,

Storm

Once your case was document qualified, you entered the queue for that consulate.  Do you realize that the consulate has a backlog of cases wanting an interview?  THERE ARE PEOPLE IN FRONT OF YOU! When your case reaches the front of the queue, NVC will schedule the interview, notify you, then send the case to the consulate.   It's time for a reality check.    Patience is still the key.  Good luck.

3 weeks????Seriously?????  Just relax and wait...like everyone else.  It could easily take several months.

Fix what???

Fix the long wait times, separating families for years. At least provide the people who are waiting in queue an approximate wait time for their interview to be scheduled? Maybe let us know how many people are in front of us and how many are being processed per month to calculate how long we need to wait? Instead of just putting us in limbo.  These are the things that can be fixed. Currently, I have no idea how long my wait time is or if there is anyway to find out. If someone knows, kindly do help. It will be greatly appreciated.

All that information is freely available monthly where you can see exactly how many visas issued for every category for your embassy.

there is no way we know how many are in queue for Manila

to give u an idea from the year to date charts 31% of the I 130"s are from 5 countries which includes Philippines

and at the end of 2021 there were 1,519,906 pending petitions

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/data/Quarterly_All_Forms_FY2021Q4.pdf

and that is just spouse visas

add that number to all the visas pending overall plus  tourist visas

i can not find a chart for pending at NVC

but in 2021 Manila issued 12, 579 immigrant visas and 84, 734 non immigrant visas

Due to the pandemic many consulates have a huge backlog including Mumbai. We understand your frustration but you're not alone. Patience is key. People have it worse than you as they have been waiting for 3 years now, us for instance.

Immigration is a privilege, not a right.  It requires an enormous amount of patience because it is a time consuming venture.  You have a ways to go yet, so it's in your best interest to take a step back and take a breath. Everyone wants to be with their significant others and they will, like you, in time.

Your partner can visit as long as she has the correct visa to enter India or you could meet in the middle somewhere and explore a new place together.

Thank you for that. My partner is in India. Can she visit me here in the US as a tourist while awaiting her main visa? I keep reading mixed reports about this.
