Hello everyone,

My wife and I are planning a short weekend trip to Canada. It will be 3 days and we will be back in the US. My wife's green card will be expiring in July and our weekend trip is end of this month. Will she be able to leave and reenter the US with her green card expiring in 3 months? Her passport is fine since it will not expire until 7 more years.

She can re-enter the US until the day after her green card expires.

She should have her extension letter or I-551 stamp with her in case CBSA wants to see more than 6 months of validity on the green card.

Does she have her ETA for Canada?

Her ETA for Canada is end of April, the green card expires in July. I'm not sure if she can get i-551 stamp extension since she has a 2 year green card and we are going to file i-751 in the next 3 months.

EDIT: sorry but what does ETA means in this context? I'm thinking time entering Canada. Found out you're talking about this: https://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=1053&top=16.

Since we're traveling by car, I guess it won't apply for us.

You can file I-751 as soon as April 18, 2022

Correct unless a previous ETA was denied.
