I am a permanent resident of US and my naturalization (citizenship) application is in process. I am curretly single but planning to get married in the next few months. My fiancee is in her country and has a US business visa (B1). She is not interested in applying for marriage based green card at this time, but wants to travel to the US for short term business visits on her business visa.

  • Is that legally possible and allowed after our marriage?
  • Will my naturalization application get affected in any way due to this situation?
  • Do I have to inform USCIS about my status change (from single to married) if that happens while the naturalization application is in process?

  • Will my naturalization application get affected in any way due to this situation? - No
  • Do I have to inform USCIS about my status change (from single to married) if that happens while the naturalization application is in process? - Yes. In fact, they'll ask you during your naturalization interview if anything has changed since you applied. This is where you let them know. Take your marriage cert along.
