I still think that income does affect eating habits and nutrition. Sure most people eat like ####### no matter how rich or poor they are, but I know in my own case that I would eat better stuff if I had more money - it's extremely hard for me to afford to buy fruit and veggies all the time.

One reason the poor in the Philippines are healthy as they grow a lot of their own vegies and also eat a lot of what we call "weeds".

You don't see many fat Filipinos in the Philippines. They walk a LOT and eat better balanced meals than Americans by FAR even tho poor.

Fish, vegies and rice.

The "malunggay" [moringa] tree originating in India is a good example.

All I know is that I ate like a pig in Colombia last time I was there and didn't gain a single pound. The reason is because we don't own a car there and had to do massive amounts of walking, which is a normal thing to do. You rarely see obese people and it's mainly because they're more active than we are in the States.
