 For those who have submitted their medical exam and did the interview is the Covid vaccine requirement to enter the USA

to be fully vaccinated it takes several months so get started ASAP 

and covid test is also needed at this time before getting on plane   / subject to change at any time

Yes, unless you have an IMMIGRANT visa (K-1 is not an immigrant visa)......I believe that is how it stands at the moment.

Plus I believe immigrant applicants can’t opt out of vaccines including COVID at the time of the medical so in any way they will have to be vaccinated against COVID

Yup; moreover, some embassies are providing guidance to the medical examiners that they shouldn't even sign off on the exam sheet unless the beneficiary has the COVID shot. It appears as if this vaccine in particular has a special status compared to the others. 

 

But I also push back on it taking several months to have 'fully vaccinated' status. We recognize Janssen which will render you good-to-go in like 15 days. Moreover, the US still doesn't have a booster requirement (and likely won't at this rate). I think you can pass medical, and get on a flight, even if your vaccine is out-of-date (that being over 9 months old). Please correct me if I'm wrong, but one 'series' is still all that you need to prove.

Yes, one series is enough no matter how ‘old’ but I think @JeanneAdil was referring to airlines requiring you to be fully vaccinated at the time of departure - i.e. 2 weeks have to pass after the second dose. So when you get 1st shot, you have to wait X many weeks to get a 2nd plus 2 weeks after the second shot to be considered fully vaccinated which is pretty time consuming.

then they shorten the time as it was 2 months from 1st to 2nd dose for me (could have been shortage of vaccines)

but 6 months from the 2nd to booster and that seems forever

Boosters are not required for the medical or entry into the US as mentioned by @slavaskii

yes. JnJ 1 shot or pfizer/moderna 2 shots are considered fully vaccinated
