Nice retort "30 years from now, blah blah blah." Yes, lets not worry about the future, lets just worry about today. Who cares what I will be paying for energy down the road as long as I am getting it cheap now.

It's not as black and white as you make it out.

You seem to think that by doing expansions etc that we will have cheap fuel. How does an expansion decrease fuel costs and end our dependency on ME oil?

We get roughly 55% of our oil from the ME. Where on this planet are we going to make that up? The US has a steadily declining amount of reserves and has been this way since the 1970s (Hubbert Curve). Even the Canadian oil sands would not be able to offset the supply of oil we get from the ME on a daily basis.

How about Alaska? First off, I am all for drilling there, but there really is not that much there. If by some miracle of modern science we were able to pump oil out of the ground there fast enough to keep pace with the oil we get from the ME daily, the reserves would be gone in a matter of months.

I don't believe I said it would be cheap. I said it's about controlling cost.

Mabe peoples attention should be on the real problem, obsessing over George and ####### is so frickin obvious.

NEW YORK, New York, October 18, 2006 (ENS) - The world's 10 most polluted places threaten the health of more than 10 million people in eight countries, according to a report released today by a U.S. environmental action group. Three of the most polluted sites are in Russia, the report said, with the remaining seven located in China, Dominican Republic, India, Kyrgyzstan, Peru, Ukraine and Zambia.

http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/oct2006/2006-10-18-02.asp

We will forget about these places cuz we cant tie George and ####### to them.

Umm... for the very simple reason that we can only how our own government accountable for our environment...

Still thanks for the relativism.

Love Canal revisited?

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

SOYLENT GREEN IS PEOPLE! lol

Life isn't always about doing what's right for 100 years from now. Yes, there's an opportunity cost involved...and there's always a clear choice when you're not the ones making the choice. Meaning: it's easy to say 'oh 100 years from now, we must do the right thing' but at the end of the day, if gas was $10-$15 an hour, everyone would have something else to be up in arms about.

Hee hee.

and yes, I agree with what you are saying about people finding something to complain about no matter what. I just personally happen to think that I should be a steward for the environment (not to imply that you don't care about the environment, btw) and therefore when I see things like this I think it's insane. I do make an effort in my own life to make sure that I'm not needlessly contributing to the waste, but not everyone does or will.

I know it won't change anything, but I am so angered by the fact that money is the bottom line...wherever it occurs, be it environmental or educational or whatever.

I getcha

Believe me, I'm not chuffed that money is always the bottom line either...but since I need to survive in the world, and I can't pay for things with blades of grass...I see the other side of the coin here. Cos our well being as a society actually hinges on the price of oil. Sucks, but it's true.

Unless yer Amish....but then you wouldn't have a puter, heh.
