Hi I received my one year extention to my green card about 2 weeks ago, after sending in my I-751 with all the documentation etc...today I received a yellow letter stating "Your petition to remove conditions on residence has not been reviewed by an immigration officer to determine legal sufficiency or eligibility. in order to ensure the case file is complete when an officer reviews it, please submit the following, if you have not already done so"...now I know I sent everything in, and I know I am probably worrying for no reason..but this is just a letter they send out as a formality right? the "if you have not already done so" part makes me think that it is...but I always worry when USCIS sends me anything...Im a worrier..thanks in advance :D

You will be fine as long as you have sent in all the required documents. The "if" part is just for people who may have not sent in some documents along with their applications for some reason.

I got the same kind of letter for the AOS interview for the medical exam and supplement and the I-864, which had already been submitted.

Good luck.

By the way, I am about to start gathering documents for my own lifting of conditions. Did you send in letters from friends? How many? Did you get them to notarize them or not?

Thanks.

poppy, you might want to look back in the archived forum for others' experiences, but this is becomming quite common. They need your old card back so that they can send you your new one directly. It *is* a step-saver for you, but a leap of faith also!

Don't worry. This is new process. If you got a yellow letter it will be a good news for you because you will get your 10 years greenn card quicker than old process. Just send a green card back with yellow letter. you will get 10 years green card in the mail soon. it took me only 3 months for lifing condition.

This is my time line

sent form i-751 to Nebraska center Nov, 27, 2005

received Notice of action Dec, 9, 2005

received yellow letter Jan, 4, 2006

sent green card back with yellow letter Jan, 12, 2006

received 10 years green card in the mail Feb 25, 2006

That is business as usual now days with the INS. They want your old GC back before they will issue you a new one to help prevent illegal production and black market sales.

Be sure to make a copy of the yellow sheet with the green card attached before you send it in also.

And then if you don't feel comfortable without your green card, you can bring the copy of the yellow sheet with gc attached, your passport and the extension letter to your local office and they should make you a temporary card. You can make an appoinntment with infopass.
